Ok so I was driving home and pow my shifter cable snapped.with the help of a passer bye I got my car to a parking lot after calling every part house in town I was Promptly told no one has the shifter cables Nor could they order one. Thank god for u-pull it I got the cable I then put the cable on and nothing. My car will start in any gear I have it in and I can take my foot off the Clutch and it won't die are move and it is in any gear. Any help would be great thanks

The clutch was new when the shift cable snapped. I replaced the shift cables My car will start with the clutch pedal pushed in.and I can take my foot off the clutch and the car doesn't die and won't move It doesn't matter what gear it's in. I can start the car and just get out of it and it will stay right there.

Sounds like the cable needs to be adjusted so the clutch will engage fly wheel. if that does not fix it I would lean toward internal problems. if it snapped going into gear and it just slammed the flywheel fast enough could have sheared the material enough to allow it not to go. I had similar problem car wouldn't go into gear and my friend forced it into gear and would do same thing. did the slave cylinder first to see if that would help it engage it helped the car would go in gear but there was not t enough clutch material to move car. so try the easy stuff first before you go into taking the tranny apart. hope this helps alittle if you need more I will follow your problem.

How sure are you that it is going into gear? I broke pretty much my whole shift cable assembly and it was strange. Try manually putting the car into gear by moving the actual bracket that's attached to the tranny and then start the car and let off of the clutch.

I've tried doing that With the parking brake engaged So i didt run myself over. i can start the car get out of the car walk around to the front of it and I can shift it on top of the transmission were the shifter cables Attach. And I can do this process with the car shifted into any spot with the shifter lever.

No The speedometer doesn't move. This all started when I was driving I was shifting into third gear and the shifter cable snapped and my hand flew into the stereo Almost wrecked my car. I replaced the cables and now it won't drive it won't engage I don't know what's going on

Well if you can not put into gear manually then its one of two things your clutch is fried and car wont move or your drive axle is messed up. You have ruled out everything else.

Well ill start looking for Clutch then. I will keep you posted thanks For the help. Oh do you think that it could be a Broken input shaft?

before you buy anything I would jack it up and look at the input shaft and if its not broken and is in working order. Check everything before replacing it unless you want to replace the input shaft then see if that fixes the problem then if it does not fix problem move to the clutch however you want to spend your money. its one of the other or both.

I will definitely check and recheck everything befor I start spending money going to have it towed to my new apt. Ill keep you posted thanks again for everything.

Yeah, take it apart and see what broke! It's either the clutch or the input shaft. The speedometer doesn't move, so you know it's not the axles. Either way the transmission has to come out, and you certainly can't drive it while you wait for the parts to arrive, so nothings stopping you from ripping into it. Other than life maybe.
Good luck.

Thanks to all who posted. Going to get my car towed over here ASAP and will post Results soon as I can thanks again.

I'll look when I have the tranny pulled.i have a Clutch kit on hold at the part house just in case

That just means your clutch didn't disengage, which explains how you broke the cable. My question is, did the clutch pedal ever stick to the floor? Best thing to do is fill it up, bleed it, have a friend watch while you shift it to see if you're actually getting movement at the shifter assembly.

Yes it did once after the guy put in the new clutch and ill do that in the morning and let you know how it went

I didt try to force itInto gear just driving normal went to go to third and my hand hit the radio and I almost wreaked was not speeding are dicking off had my 3yr old son with me was just going to the park..

Oh yea it snapped!!!

So bleed the clutch today and still nothing I'm going to order the clutch kit on payday it's killing me
