95 GSX High speed shake

The car has no shake untill you reach 65 then you feal a slight shake and at 70 the shake gets very noticeable and progressively gets worse after that. I got the tires ballanced and brakes are not very old. Any idea's what is causing it?

couple things could cause this. first, out of balance wheels, second, warped rotors can cause that, third, what size tires do you have on what size rims? a over sized tire on a stock sized rim will tend to be shakey at higher speeds. good luck.

is the shaking a general up and down vibration or does the steering wheel wiggle back and forth. more than likely you threw a weight off a tire, go have them checked and rebalanced if needed...if the steering wheel move left to right back and forth a gazillion times a second then start checking steering components...if you have r&p then check the boots for leaks...also check ball joins...on a regular steering setup you would also check tie rods...When steering components get old and worn out they no longer have the ability to hold the wheels correctly, so they move back and forth kinda like shopping cart wheels when you push is fast down the aisle...the fact it happens at 65mph is a big sign that its balancing, as this is the general wheel speed needed to generate the osillations...

It is not a constant vibration in a way, at high speeds I will feal a vibration for a second then there is a pause for a second and that will continue untill I go under 65mph then there is no sign of vibration. It seems like it is comeing from the front of the vehicle. I recently took the car in to get the tires ballanced to try to get rid of the vibration. All the tires are good and not missmatched. I am some what ruleing out rotor warpage due to the vibration not changeing when I hit the breaks. I will check under the car for any signs of the problem before I send it to the allignment shop to figure out the problem.

you need to aligne your dsm!! man! is not the balance is the alignment! trust me, call any service shop is about 40 or 50 dlls!

Thanks, I am going to try that after I get some new rotors for it, I have a fealing that the last person who owned the car put some new pads on his old rotors. I am starting to see some grove lines in the rotors so maybe they are going out of ballance, I was looking for a reasion to get some cross drilled rotors.

I also found out that the vibration will stop at 90mph and above.

I'm going to say that it's a tire problem. I had a work van that had the same exact problems as those that you're mentioning. We tried everything, tires balanced, resurfaced the rotors, then just bought new rotors and pads, had it re-aligned. Nothing helped untill we just got new tires and it totally went away.
