Well I am not new to the dsm. I have 1995 eclipse gsx. About 3 years ago I did the 6 bolt swap using a 2g head. Had no problems IT WORKED! About a year and a half I went to the 1g head. Had no problems! Well just recently I bought and installed the revised lush adjusters. It sounds soooo much better. A week later I go to do an oil change. Was running 20w 50 valvoline. Went to 20w 50 Full Synthetic valvoline. ran it that night and notice a weird sound out of my greddy bov. Went home and looked and didn't see anything. Next morning went to start it and it just cranked but would not start. I changed out to a new starter, battary cables, plug wires and plugs. And still no luck. I turn the key and it just cranks. I have checked all wiring for con. Checked all voltages, good. still no idea why it won't start. If any one has had a problem like this please help me out. :dsm:

Every time my car would crank and not start it was the fault of the feul system, namely a bad connection in my feul pump rewiring. Start looking towards your feuling system. As to why this would occur suddenly, and for the sounds coming from your BOV I dont know if I can help.

Well I have a new walbro 255 with a rewire kit waiting to go in. I just got the compression tool today. So we'll see what happens this weekend. Thanks for the feed back fellas. :thumb: :dsm:

Well everyone, I ran a compression check this morning. 1) 120 psi 2) 0psi 3) 12psi 4) 0psi. Well, either I blew the head gasket or some how I bent the valves. :thumbdown So I will be pulling the head this weekend. Great, now it gives me the chance to get the head down up. I already have, just waiting to go in, HKS cams, SS valves, Extreme Tech springs and TI retainers, bronze guides, new seals, and findonza ajustable cam gears. Just in case you don't already know. The shortblock has already been built. bored .040 over, wiesco 9:1 pistons, eagle forged h-beam rods, knife edged crank, and all balanced, magnafluxed, balance shafts gone. Time to match the top with the bottom!!! :thumb: :dsm:

Well, blown mls head gasket! I was able to press it together and got alittle bit of oil out all the edges. I still plan to get the head completely redone. New everything!!! Well I will keep everyone posted. :thumb: :dsm:

Keep us updated... Sorry to hear about the loss... but everything happens for a reason... Now you get the chance to upgrade upgrade mod mod mod.... LOL Goodluck

undefinedWell it is nice to see a small following here. Right now I plan on just getting an Evo III turbo into the mid 11's. In do time I will be upgrading turbo and fuel so I and get into the 10's. So far I haven't seen to many 2g's going into the 10's or less. It is alittle harder than a 1g. A few of my buddies here run mustangs and camaros. They all hate on me for having this car. They all say that I have to pend more money to get the HP that they can get so cheap. I just tell them that the day will come when you get beat by a 4 cyl. I just really want to beat the shit out of their cars! And I know that I am on the right path cause it is proven. :thumb: Well I will keep you all posted! Thanks! :dsm:

I have a Camaro right now and to be honest with ya, I cant wait to get a nice DSM gsx, and mod the hell out of it. I love the way these ride/handle/and the sound of that lovely turbo. UHHHH!!! I cant wait... someone sell me there gsx... but the point im getting to is that, the DSM world isnt to far away from what the v8 guys are at. The 4 cyc engines are catching up very quick and will soon beable to out do the average v8. Trust me, a big enough turbo a great fuel system and a lil traction will take u to higher limits than most v8's. Goodluck and make that puppy touch 10's... LOL

Agreed, if the same amount of money was spent on a 94 camaro z28 then it would kill everything. Stock 290 horsepower or so and there is plenty of parts available. These cars respond to mods like a A.D.D. kid on riddlan.

Well I have dropped off my head at the performance shop and they are hooking it up for me! All new everything in the head and a valve job for $200. including porting!!! hahaha! well the guy there was recommanded from a friend and he does great work. I should get it back for install this weekend. I will keep you posted. :dsm:

Hey, are you Nick? If so, I'm the guy that was in the stall (while you were doing the head swap) next to you doing the 6bolt swap. Glad to hear you still have the car. Ought to be sweet once you get the head back on. I got transferred out to Cali. Hate it out here. My car's doing alright, except I keep getting fuel cut like a b***h. Gotta get some money so I can fix that. Did you ever get exhaust? I just matched a RRE 3" dp up to my thermal this past weekend. Sounds BADASS! Anyway, keeps us informed on how your car comes out.

:shhh: Hey Kevin. It's me. I had a problem with some bent valves. Gettin it taken care of now. No big deal. PM me and we'll talk more. :dsm:

Won't happen. You take 4 cyl and turbo it, dump a ton of fuel in it, and someone will do the same to a V8... the biggest advantage the turbo has over the V8 was the DOHC, and now there's becoming more OHC V8's on the market... soo... just remember, no matter how much tech you dump into a 4 cyl, there is truly no replacement for displacement... because you can dump the same tech into a V8... it's been done... just look at the Hennessey Venom (viper on steriods) or the Lingenfelter Corvette...

Those are also cars that are close to 100k. no doubt a v8 with the tech of our I4s will make more power just keep in mind what the average v8 has(currently), cuz i dont think ive ever even seen a viper vemon or a lingenfelter corvette in person.

That's true, but I see hundreds of 400 horsepower Junkyard Chevy, Dodge and Ford buildups in car craft... so for the budget build the standard pushrod V8 still has more power per dollar than an (S/D)OHC I4... lingenfelter and hennessey were just examples of extreme 1000hp streetable cars... well.. as streetable as 1000hp really is ;)

I guess that's why most of us are attempting to build 400+hp i4's, it's just not as easy as a big v8. Building a v8 to over 400hp doesn't take quite as much precise tuning, building, and flat out knowledge about the car like a little i4 does. The average joe with some basic car knowledge could probably build a quick little 400hp v8. Building up a four banger just takes more finesse (spelling) and precision than the big displacement motors.

I guess my point is that it's just so much more awesome and unsuspecting thing to see an i4 properly built putting out as much power as a big v8.
