hey guys, this is my new 95 Gst, I picked it up for $500 with full GReddy exhaust, injen cold air intake, and some other stuff.

The guy i got it from drove it everyday and apparently one day it started a knocking noise so he parked it and it sat for around 9 months to a year.

fastfoward to today, me and my dad put it on a trailer and got it home, we assumed it was probably a rod bearing and hoping that it wasn't spun, after spraying it off and charging the battery we started it to find the engine knock he was talking about but too both our surprise it actually sounded like it was in the top end, it ran for probably 15 seconds before my dad told me to shut it off, he discovered that the oil pan had been severely dented inward, for whatever reason the previous owner didn't mention it and we didn't see it.

I don't really want to drop the pan in till i get a replacement because it needs to be done regardless, rod bearing is still my first suspect so i'll go with that.

The severe dent is a dead giveaway that oil wasnt being properly distributed thru the pickup and into the motor. For the price you paid and the knowledge of a knock I would have expected you to be ready for a tear down. I understand that not everyone has time to do this so i would recommend replacing the oil pan and pickup first after that with a fresh oil change of course see if this helps the situation. You can also easily visually inspect the valvetrain if u suspect a knock in the longblock by just taking off the valve cover and work can still be done without disassembling the motor itself. Other than that if the knock is still prevalent its time for a rebuild yay! GL
