Ok- this is very strange to me, but for the first 3 years that I have owned my car I have not one time ever heard the alar m! One reason may ble because I do not have a keyless entry remote- but that's beside the point... I think.

Anyway- recently I halve noticed the green SECURITY light turning on as i manually lock he the doors. "Cool", I thought. But little did I know the first time I would notice it would only mean problems would occur...

When I returned to the car, I went to unlock it with my key and as I opened the door I hear the alarm for the first time in my life!!! I wasn't pissed since I have never heard it before so I just ignored the fact there were tons of people around and stood around my car to see if the lights flashed and stuff. I still thought it was cool until I couldn't figure out how to turn off the blasted thing (again, I do not have a keyless remote).

That was about two weeks ago.

Tonight, it happened again.

I again noticed the security light came on as I locked my doors whilst I sat in the driver's seat. I would unlock and notice it go off. I lock it again, and once more- it would come on. I then got out of the car, manually locked the doors with the inside lock, shut the door, and then experimented with unlocking it with my key. ....The alarm went off. I walked to the passenger side door and "locked" it to turn the alarm off and I came to a few conclusions:

1.) my keyhole is fooshed. Is there a way to adjust it? It is a bit crunchy when I try to use the key. It's surely not as smooth as it probably was the day the car rolled off the showroom floor. Is there some type of wiring behind the door-panel that may have corroded which allows the key to turn and shut off the alarm?

2.)Should I just buy a keyless entry remote to help solve my problems? If I just lock/unlock the car with it.. will this solve it so I'm not actually touching anything?

Grr... I dunno. Sometimes the alarm goes off, and sometimes it doesn't. I'm almost afraid to open the door sometimes fearing the blaring horn.

Any help?

I thiank you

I thank you in advance.

Lock your driver door with the key from the outside when you close the door. That's what I have to do. Never quite figured it out.

Keyless entry will work but if you forget and lock you door by hand your alarm will go off. Happens to me all the time i have to disconnect the battery to turn it off. Hope that helps you.

Ok today-

The security light NEVER CAME ON!!! It's like the car goes to security mode when it feels like it. I don't know what the hell...

The alarm switch on the hatch striker is probably out of adjustment. Turning the driver's door lock to unlock with the key is supposed to turn the alarm off. If it doesn't, the switch on the door may be bzorped. Check eBay for a remote. If you get one for the Eclipse, it will have the panic button. Talons didn't have the function, but the Eclipse remote will work on them, and work the panic function. Also, the Talon circuitry has the panic button pad on the pc board, just no button for it on the fob.

There is a UNLOCK sense wire on both driver and passenger key cylinders. When the alarm is active (without the key fob) you want to turn the key in the door to shut it off. If this does not work, besides getting the crappy factory key fob, an aftermarket alarm CAN be interfaced with the FACTORY alarm. FRIDAYDA13TH stated that "if you forget, The alarm will still go off" this is not always the case. Most aftermarket keyless entry systems or keyless entry with security have ALARM DISARM and ALARM ARM wires on them to interface with factory alarm modules. These wires will send a (-) output to the dedicated wires in the car to shut the alarm off. The factory alarm arm wire is GREEN/YELLOW and the factory alarm disarm is GREEN/WHITE, both are found in the drivers kick panel, door harness.

Well your key should shut the alarm off if you dont have a keyless remote, so thats fine. I would say to just get a keyless remote, or your going to have to remove the wiring for the alarm system. Lot easier to get a keyless remote.
