Driving a '95 Eclipse. My dash lights went out (gauges and the HVAC highlights) - those are all stock and I didn't have custom gauges installed.

From what I've read in other threads, here is what I checked:

  • The cigarette lighter light wires are getting power.
  • Tail lights work.
  • Head lights work.
  • Service lights (internal indicators in the dash) such as blinker, SRS, oil - all work.
  • The dimmer switch bypass did not work.
  • All fuses are in good condition.

Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Yep, that's exactly what I did. Still nothing. What I think might be the case is loss of power to the yellow/black wire - the voltage is zero when tested with a multimeter. However, I am not quite sure where to start looking for the cause of that.

The black-yellow is the ground side of the dash lights. Still with it disconnected (from dimmer) you should see +12v there when the lights are not on (due to it getting the voltage through those lights). The power comes through the "tail lamp" 15A engine bay fuse (green-white wire) which also runs your tail lamps, side markers, license, etc (check if these are working). So make sure you have voltage at the 15A fuse and also at the dash lights green-white.

I did the dimmer bypass once again and the gauge lights work. However, the HVAC highlights are all off (the AC green/orange light behind the button works). There is +12V going to the green/white and black/wire now. There is also +12V going to the 15A Tail Lights fuse in the engine bay.
