95 eagle tsi is this normal ?

ok so like i said in my other post a few days ago i got my first ever DSM witch is my 91 eclipse that i found out to day has a 2g engine and ecu. so thats cool. but i just bought another DSM yesterday witch is a 95 talon tsi. my question is this..

my temp Gage seems to be working. as it stays dead center and does not move!...
my fan kicks on and off like it should... but my coolant house the top one is hot as hell to the touch. as this is only my second dsm and i got both of mine in the same week. im not sure if this is ok or not so iv not run it untill i hear if this is normal. the temp gage never goes above half.

and my other question is this... i know i seen a list of free mods i can do to my talon i just cant find it now... iv used the search with no luck.. can some one link me please ?

Uh, a hot housing should be ok.

The free mods list is in the upper left of the homepage. Click TECH, then click UPGRADE PATHS. Select your car and there will be the mods.

Easy way to be sure is make sure both hoses are "about" the same temp. That will let you know that the thermostat is not stuck shut and that the temp gauge is most likely in good working order. Yes the hoses are supposed to be very hot to the thouch, the coolant runnning through those lines is about 195 degrees. Btw, before you start modding these cars make sure the maintenence is up to date.

I think he meant the top radiator hose not the housing. And yeah that will be hot to the touch at normal operating temperature. 190* usually feels hot as hell.

ok thanks for all that info.. and yes iv changed all belts and fluids befor i even thought of doing any modding.. i changed all of it today

pics of my 2 ladies the 91 i payed 1100 for 1 owner car with 26k the 95 talon i payed 800 for 3 owner car with 120k, both are 100% stock ....

my rx7 stays at the middle in the temp gauge at all times and the hose feels pretty damn hot. My fan is hotwired on though.
