soo this is the start of my path down dsm’s. this is my first time owning one, i dont have a route for this car but heres whats going on with this build.

i bought the car for 1800 listed as a “tsi awd” car isn't awd. nor ever was . in early feb/2024. car has been sitting since 2011 as the owner of the car died and his parents kept it. we spent 2 hours digging the car outta the ground at 9pm at night. and this was after it was bought so no way to check for awd and i was very trusting and naive with zero knowledge of dsm’s i just though it was cool 4g63t and awd =2door evo(since then ive deep dived on this forum) next day checked underside and to my eyes no rear diff. i was kinda pissed. but i wanted to get it running anyway

finally got it into my garage and hooked power to it
3/1/24- cranks but no start
3/2/24- no fuel ordering new fuel pump/drain gas tank
4/12/24- compression test- zero all around. took valve cover off and all the intake rockers were off.. need to check timing
4/19/24 checked timing and found snapped balance shaft belt and timing jumped almost 180degrees retimed like an idiot
4/20/24- most likely bent valves ( they are toasted btw)
4/28/24- found&bought a 97 long block on offer up for $200 with a spun bearing and good head. (just wanna get it running& go from there)
5/4/24 pulled the bad head and started to prep for used one(found out the one i bought has a rebuilt stamp on it and is super clean, talk about a come up)

making some progress this week doing a bs delete, and getting the oil pump back on. got the arp head studs and the new to me used rebuilt head on. and the intake. hopefully get timing and everything buttoned up this weekend. think im going to get it running in my talon because everything is stock and complete and then swap everything needed to the gsx. then im going to send off a block and the head to get machined. so I can have both running

sooo guys I ended up getting the talon all buttoned up and the Motor running last week what a ride the last few months have been getting it up and running as my first time into the dsm community I will post some pics later tonight

but also with that said since the car runs no check lights and my compression is 180 across the board and no leaks the only issue im having is the oil pressure gauge and I have come to believe its a wiring issue or grounding issue cause the gauge works ive tested it and ive replaced the sensor with a known good one from a friends car. but that's the last of it for now on this car.

I drove it for the first time the other night to the gas station and the car drives and rides like a car that sat for 10+ years (last reg"d in 2011) you hear the wheel bearings and just about everything creaks and should probably be replaced and im happy the motor is healthy because its being pulled this week to go into the GSX I \bought about a moth ago and this talon is gonna go back on hiatus until I can get another motor built in the future. pics being posted later

the sad sorry of the car that sat for over a decade to have the engine freshened up to only be ripped out for a gsx maybe over soon.. as of now its a parts car with a clean Title shell, ive basically taken everything possinly good and used to rebuild/restore my Gsx to oem+ tasteful mods. check that build thread soon it will be seeing some activity. But any whoo hopefully in the next year i can get this car the love it needs
