I have tried to search on this forum, but I found only guys talking about it. Has anyone ever really done it for a 2gb? I just bought a pair, and I have only one pic of a guy that has done it, but come to find out its on a 96-99 GS-T, but he did a front and rear conversion from a 97. So he already had the side skirts. I know they are different, in the fact that 97-98 Talons did not come with side skirts, but those hideous door sill bumper things on the doors.

Here are the photos. See the first guy, he had done it on a 96-99 GS-T, and the other guy did it for an Eclipse conversion. But I am looking for the 95-96 side skirts on a 97-98 Talon or even Eclipse.

Any help or pics will do guys. I have these just sitting here, ready to get cleaned and painted, but as far as putting them on, and will they fit, that is the question.

They will fit just fine, you will have to drill some holes for the clips to snap into though.

I think that a 2gb talon with 2ga skirts is the best combo out there. Be sure to post up pics when your done.

Yeah, that is what I envisioned with the guy that did the Talon conversion on his GS-T. It does look the best, but that guy is missing the door sills that the 97-98's have. I have never seen this done on a 97-98, but I have heard of it being done, but no one has pics. I will be sure to post up the pics and maybe do a write up on it. I like the 97-99 side skirts that the Eclipses came with, but they are too plain, I like the curves of the 95-96 Talons, and the 97-98 has the most aggressive looking body out of them all.

See, I searched on this forum, and I only found threads of guys talking about doing it, no pics, no link, nothing. I didn't search the classifieds. Now wait, it looks as if he did a 97-98 conversion. He doesn't have the funky door sills that the 97-98 Talons have, look at this pic of my Talon....

The doors look a little different too. Like at the bottom, they have a straight line that goes all around the body.

I have been working on a 95 Tsi AWD that a friend has just aquired and he also likes the aggressiveness look of the 2gb Talon. He is planning on putting the 2gb Talon nose, side spears and rear bumper cover, and high loop spoiler on his car. As for the side skirts, it appears that none of the 2gb Talon came with factory side skirts?, only 2ga Talon did with the twist style. which looks good. He is also considering using the 2ga or b Eclipse skirts, so if someone has any pics of a 2gb Talon with 2gb Eclipse skirts I also would like to see them please. Thanks guys

That line is on the 2ga when you take the side skirts off. I once got T-boned and I had to drive without them until the body shop could track some down. It looked just like the 2gb.

Just imagine the pics that I posted with that funky door stripe.

In my opinion, I like the door smooth and without that trim stuck on there.

Here is my vision of the best looking DSM. 2gb Talon front bumper, 2ga Talon sideskirts, 2ga Talon rear bumper, 2ga talon/eclipse door panel+rear quarter panel(no bulging trim), and 2gb Talon spoiler.

Hmmm, maybe... The quarter panels are different from a 2ga to 2gb? Really? See, I would have never guessed. Oh, wait, nevermind, you are talking about the funky stripes huh? Okay, yeah, maybe I could see, but just wait and see until I get this on, I am going to leave the door strips on, along with everthing else.

I just said 2ga because then I wouldn't have to fill in the holes left over from removing those stripe things. The panels are the same. It is that molding that is different.

See, this is the ads posted. It looks almost like what I want to do, but you have to make it red of course, and add those door stripes, then it will be complete. It looks good though, its looks alot better than no side skirts. I still don't know why they didn't make the 2gb from the factory with those 2ga side skirts...

Yeah, I looked at the pictures very hard, and that is the only difference from the 2ga's and 2gb's. The Front and Rear Fascias, the Door stripes on the 2gb's, and the 2ga's have the side skirts but no door stripes, and the Wings. I am going to get rid of the "16v DOHC Turbo" on the sides, and the Chrysler symbol too. I will fill them in, leaving them smooth, and match the paint of course.

Ah, there you are. I was looking for your car as a sample.

I am a little curious as to the splitter style things that you bolted to your bumper.

YES!!! Jackpot!!! I know I have seen your car somewhere bro. Now, how hard/easy was it? I am in need of details. I am going to fill in mine though, I have my car entirely debadged, and that stuff will give it away. Yeah, what is up with the splitters? Evo's and STi's look good with those, but not ours. They look good with just the body, stock body that is.

well actually i didnt want to drill holes so i used window weld. it hold like hell. and i used the bolt holes at the ends. window weld is really messy so you have to take your time to put it on and use tape for a day till it dries properly.. yeah those are cheap ebay splitters. i think the front of our cars are toooo roundish so when looking from the front it squares the car up a little ive grown attached. when i initially put on the skirts i used 3m tape.but since then had them both redone with the window weld. i wasnt about to start drilling holes in my car. and the car has the whole silver/black theme to it

Yeah, I agree. The 2 toned paint, the aggressive looks, and then the side skirts make the whole package complete. Widow weld huh? I wouldn't want to start drilling holes either. I am not going to take them off once they are on, but at the same time, I want it to stay and hold up during the weather and what not. Hey, whatever works for you bro. It looks good.

window weld is the stuff that holds out windshields in place.. it stands teh test of weather. so i wouldnt worry if i was use..just applying it is the hard partbut once its on ...its on.

I know what it is bro. Yeah, did you use the clear kind or the black kind? Did you take off all of the little clips and slots underneath? I will post a pic of the ones I got here shortly.

Thanks to housegsx for these. I have to paint them of course. And they are the exact length of the door too? No trimming needed at all? Just from looking at your pics, it looks like there is none, just bolt and go.

just use the lower body line as reference.. start with teh big rear piece first.. and you gotta leave hte door open to match it up perfect.. the hardest part woudl be lining up the door cap..if you can try to put it as far to the rear of the car as possible..if not when yo uopen the door its gonna hit and eventually need to be put back on.i used the black kind..

Okay, use that line on our bodies, got it. And the big long side skirt piece first, then the door cap, then the rear cap. Of course leave the door open to line it up. The black window weld will do then, now all I have to do is prep/paint them. It looks drop dead gorgeous on a 97-98. I still don't know why they didn't keep them on from the factory. I know they revised the front and rear fascias, along with the wing, but no interior differences, or performance differences as well, just looks. I will keep everyone up to date on this "conversion" and post pics when I a done. Thanks for your help, and please, get rid of the ebay splitters, its not ARC.

By the way, do you have a front/side pic of your car? I would like to see how far it stick out, and blends with the body... Thanks bro...

how far what sticks out the skirts??its personal pref. man..so the canards stay,

oh if any one needs the door caps from a 95-96 i have them

Please specify door caps? I just gave the correct nomenclature and correct part numbers from CAPS and on the actual items themselves. A Part number or a pic would also help. :thumb: I am not trying to be a prick, but that is why I started this, due to the fact that there wasn't much info about it in the first place. 2nd of all, it is the names/part numbers that people need, in order to find out what it is that they are talking about, or what they need to order. Specific details are always better than vague descriptions.
