hey everyone!! how hard would it be to take my 94 drivetrain (awd, 4 bolt, 22 spline) and pop it all into a 91 shell? my car is totally not even worth it anymore, cost me too much to get back into streetable condition, and i just found this jewel on craigslist.

RAIN SALE 90 to 94 TALON,ECLIPSE,& LASER PARTS THEIR ALL INSIDE .

the now owner says it has full exhaust, upgraded turbo, cross drilled/slotted rotors and a blown motor. he is keeping engine to rebuild, but the rest of car is as is.

what parts would i need to make this happen? if a fwd, i know that awd shocks would be needed in rear and stuff. this is 300 bucks, and a viable option over me dumping money into a heap.

im checking it out tomorrow at 4pm so any advice is welcomed!:thumb:

all i know right now is that its a 91. the guy is an older gentleman, and recycles parts/cars out of a warehouse for free time and extra money. going to check it tomorrow at 4. if it is a fwd setup, how hard would it be, and what needed, to put 94 awd setup in it?

its easier to use google and search for dsm stuff than the search forums sometimes...

Yea that would be my only concern, as you can see from the article, it's not worth it. If it is awd, then it shouldn't be a problem. 91-94's have the same drivetrain. 90's were the oddballs with different linkages and splint counts. Are you sure your current car is a 22 spline? I was under the impression 91-94's were 23.

yeah i meant 23, i was thinking pto 21 or 22...my bad. so i guess if its a fwd, i could just swap in my engine and sell the rest of the awd setup :( but hey, i would have a working car right?

damn! turns out to only be fwd. would still be fun, but not as fun as awd...back to the searching of a good shell, or fixing my hunk a junk

so, being you guys, would you just fix a 94 awd over buying this and swapping im my motor? im thinking it will be about same cost for everything if i did this...i dont have lift or any other specialty tools required...yet.

If you're in no hurry to drive it, and have another car drive, just look for a nice shell and take your time with it. My current shell is okay, but I wanted a super clean shell, so I waited and found the one I want! If it's gonna be a lot of work either way, just get a nice shell.

yeah i think i will just do that then...it sucks not being able to take this thing out and beat on it, nor be able to get a logger or something to make sure its fine...but soon i suppose, the wait will be worth it..
