Winnipeg,
i have an auto with 143k miles it was driving fine, but now it started acting up, it could be showing it's age but i thought i would check.

It began with a slipping feel to it, when accelerating gradually it would rev up in between gears without any change in throttle, it wasn't too often but enought to start a worry.

Just lately it would have an intermitant shifting problem, the tranny would all of a sudden seem change and it would only upshift at 3500 RPM, with a very jerky shift. And the downshift when slowing down felt like it would klunk into the next forcing me forward( kinda like dropping the clutch on a 5-speed ), not smooth at all.

I did a fluid change and it didn't really help anything.
on the highway it is fine once up to speed , but with gradual accel. there is noticeable varyation in the amount of "Pull" throughout a gear.

I have everything for a MT conversion, but i wanted to know if this is a normal last breath for an auto tranny or if i can sel it cheap as a working tranny.

Thanks

Replaced the filter 25k kms ago, havn't checked for errors, but don't know how.

You can check for error code with an Analog Voltmeter.

Get yourself a maintenance manual. You can buy one at Crappy. It will tell you how to do it.

Ghislain.
