hey guy's,
me and my bro just got a 92 2.0 turbo awd laser about a week ago! but it needs a ecu and actuator for the turbo. i'vbe already ordered the ecu and it should be here tomorrow. we got the car for 600 bucks and its in mint condition except a dent in the fender which can be poped out easily and the the engine needs a good cleaning.. my question is what should i check or do before i started it up and after cause its bin sitting for a year with out being started, anything i should look for? i've checked the timming belt its in great shape its bin repalced not to long ago and oils ok and so is coolant. it has 150,000 miles also but siad it ran great.. let me know.. thanks alot, Cory :laser:

hey needs some real quick help!!!!!
can a isc or air idle speed moter or whatever fry the ecu???i have a rebiult ecu ready to go in but can't cause my bro was told it can fry it if they are bad.... please help quick...Thanks Cory

well we did put the ecu in the car after i got my bro convinced that it wouldn't fry it, well the stupid thing wouldn't start. its sounded like there was no compression, it wasn't even firing. so we check for spark and gas its getting both. i checked timming, idk alot about the 2.0 timming but i know the cam marks are supposed to be pointing at each other and they weren't but the timming was done not to long ago and the belt wasn't broke. so i get in the car and start cranking it cause i remember the guy saying it took like 5 min to get it started. so i get in it and start cranking it over and about a minute later its starts to actually fire and try to start but it won't. so i keep cranking it and about acouple minutes later of cranking it finally starts up! so after that i let it warm up and then i shut it off and go to bed cause its like 1 am. come out the next morning and try to start it still takes awhile to start but not like before.. so i pull it out let it idle and shut it off and check the coolant its low so i put some in, i start it back up and try taking it down the ally but didn't go to far... come back up to only see a streem of coolant coming from it so i look under the car and its on the right side of the motor..... where the water pump is, so i'm ticked and just parked it till my bro got home... when he got home we filled it with coolant and took it down the road runs pretty good, when we got back it didn't seem to miss like it did and wasn't hessitating but we found some things thats wrong..... radiator is leaking, alternator isn't chargeing we made it back just in time, both cv joints are ripped, water pump is bad, and its takes for ever to start!!!! and everythiong on the car is G rigged! and some other things i can't remeber.. i think the thing is a pos and don't care about it anymore it just make me love my 1.8 and want to mod it even more! well today my bro is taking it to get the water pump done and replacing everything else in the process..... so ill keep u guys updated and anyone have any ideas of why it takes so long to start ???? i heard the fuel filter might be clogged???? thanks for your help guys. :|

i had the same problem with not being able to get it to start, you might want to check your fuel pressure and see if thats the problems, a walbro 190lph pump cured the problem for me.

well just got the car back and took it for a drive its baugen reel bad.. my 1.8l could tear this thing to pieces and i mean it could whoop this thing! could the timming be off ? or is it somthin else ?... 1.8's rock! :laser:

Yeah it sounds like the timing marks are off, it needs to be straight across (the marks on the exhaust and intake cams).

it doesn't have any boost like maybe 3 pnds of boost.. could the timming take the boost down alot and the actuater isn't hooked up cause its broke but its bin discounected and ran more boost than this....
