I just got into DSM's i had a 95 awd i sold and now i have a 92 ealge talon tsi! i am pretty car savvy i am a technician at paul miller subaru but am pretty new to tuining! i have a gm maf and translator and data logger setup if thats what you would call it. I do not have any software or hard ware to tune it with. I do not know what i need. i was wondering if any one could point me to a classified add with what i need or tell me were to get what i need to tune. Also i would like to know if the conversion from maf translator setup to dsm link is hard. ( ik you can run both but is it worth it?) Any guideance on this would be greatly appreciated!:D

I would eather get a 2g maf there much easier to run or if your money is right SD and ecmlink is well worth your money but if you have a logger u can run gm maf and a afc if you like. Also to note, im not a fan of the maftranslator, but thats my personal opinion. A good setup for 1g's are 2g maf and 550cc its always been a good setup for a 1g's with a 14b depends on how far you want to take your car tho.

Please use proper grammar (shift key usage).

If you are considering going to ECMLink, make the upgrade. Tuning on the MAFT is "ok" at best. The tune will generally change with the weather and only alters the fuel amount by intercepting the signal going to the ECU and altering it.

ECMLink allows much much much more control over a large range of items and it's a logger too.

You have everything you need to tune the MAFT, you have the GM MAF, the translator which is the actual tuning device, and a logger to show what you are doing. If you choose to run a SAFC along with the MAFT, it just allows for finer tuning that what the MAFT would allow on it's own.

If you are wondering, you can utilize the GM MAF with ECMLink v3 and hook it up just buy using a cable they sell, you would no longer need the translator. You'll need to see if you have an EPROM for Link and if not, they can convert your current ECU into an EPROM.

I agree with everything in the previous two posts, and would like to add that with ECMlink you can also run the 2g MAF which does a great job metering airflow levels beyond the capacity of the 1g MAF.

There's a dropdown menu where you simply select "2g maf" from a list and viola, it's calibrated. All that's left is to plumb it to the intake, and solder/shink tube the 2g MAF plug to your harness.

It's easier and more consistent to tune than the GM MAF, and has your intake temp and baro sensors built right in.
