91 gsx headlights not coming on?

the headlights on my 91 gsx worked for a while. when i noticed there was a wire cut on the flip up motors for the lights, i reattached them both on each side and the lights now flip up but have not turned on since i returned power to the flip motors. i am pretty sure i still hear the relays clicking, but the headlights will not turn on. any help?

I would check the fuses under the hood first(passenger side). If they are good, I would then check to see if there is voltage going to the lights with a multimeter or test light.

i checked all the fuses before i posted this, i know a great deal about electricity and circuits, but every fuse is good. i will have to use a test light tonight to see if they are getting power.

i reconnected the wires that power the motors to flip up the high beam motors.

I was hoping you would be specific about the location and wire color so I could look in the manual and see if that might have anything directly to do with it but there isn't a high beam motor only the popup motor circuits and then the headlight circuits.

You'll just have to look at the headlight wiring for power and the switch of the ground circuits and work back from there. The red with blue stripe wire on pin 3 is the power from the headlight relay. The red the ground on 1 the ground for the high beam and the red with white on pin 2 the ground for the low beam. Both of those come from the column switch.

i believe it was a red wire with a stripe on it, i dont remember what color stripe, but the headlights worked when it as not connected so it couldnt have something to do with the headlight bulbs themselves, just to the motors?

That's the point. I though you said that the bulbs lit before you connected the wire and stopped when you did. That's a pretty telling reason to figure out exactly what the wire does.

Without you checking and providing that data on which it was I can't see answering the question. Since you know a great deal about electricity and circuits this isn't a surprise.

Also needed is if your car has the factory theft alarm. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have the daylight running lights since that was only on Canadian cars.

Do you have the factory electrical manual for the car?

no i do not but i have access to a haynes repair manual for the first gen eclipse talon laser. i am all but positive there is a bad ground somewhere in the wiring or a short somewhere else, bc the lights did work then now they dont, but the bulbs themselves are good. i hooked them up so my battery and they light fine. so i really do not know.
