Windsor,
Hi, I'm looking to get a factory service manuals for my 90 Talon.
I'm just wondering if there are any differences between the 90 and 91+ service manuals.
I heard that the 90 had some electrical differences, but was wondering if that comes up in the manuals.

Thanks

There are sigficant differences between 90's and '91's. Enough so that you should try and find a actual paper set of the Factory Service Manual for the 90 model year either from Mitsubishi or Chrysler. Most of us have the later manuals are a constantly trying to remember is differences. The later manuals don't say a thing about the 90 cars.

Factory service manuals should cover all years and all models. Anything that's specific to a single model year will have seperate diagrams. Just make sure the manual covers 90-94 DSM's.

The chilton manual I know describes most of the differences in the electrical system. There are detailed pictures and they do a pretty good job of pointing you in the correct direction.

Yeah, what Steve said. ;)

If you're looking for very basic guidelines, a Haynes or Chilton (90-94) guide is usually okay about noting year-specific differences, but for anything above and beyond the most basic repairs, I would track down a 90-specific factory service manual from Chrysler. I have both the 90 and the 91+ manuals, and find occasion to refer to them regularly over any Haynes or Chilton manual.

thanks for all the advice.

Would there be any difference between a 90 Eclipse service manual set and a 90 Talon/Laser service manual set?

Minor differences based on what I've seen in the 91 manuals. Some of the chapters move in the book, recommended fluids and such change to company specific stuff, bumpers and trim changes, The bulk remains the same.

that's good. that's what i was hoping for.
As long as everything is teh same mechanically and electrically (especially electrical wiring) ill be good.

Thanks

The Eclipse manuals are a bit thicker, and a helluva lot more expensive. You can find Talon manuals (real books) on eBay for $20, whereas Eclipse books commonly bring $70. Despite the increased number of pages, I've not found Eclipse manuals to be a lot better.
Any year within the generation will cover most issues you'll be dealing with.
