90 gst. Looking to buy this

I'm on my local Craigslist, searching for a boosted 1g and came across one similar to my old one. Problem is the car isn't getting any electrical power whatsoever. The owner said starter, battery, and alternator was new. What could cause this?

Battery, fuse, relay, broken wires, bird poo on the window.
It could be a billion things until you take the chance, buy the car, dissect it, and find out.

Just figured I'd ask before I went and bought it. He's asking 1500 would 6 or 700 be reasonable ?

I had that bird poo on my window once....cleaned it off and she fired right up....


Seriously though he's right you'll never know until you look into it, eliminate possibilities once at a time....and another thing how are we supposed to determine a price for a car when all we know is its a 90 gst with wiring problems...

Can't do much more than the basics. Check battery connection, fuses & relays, ECU those are the easy ones. You are really limited on your options:

1) make an offer based on the worst possible scenario and do what it takes to fix it

2) ask sellers permission to tinker or critically inspect before buying

3) tow it to a shop and get an estimate on the repair - some shops will charge you for the diagnostics - though, if you get the repair done they usually reimburse you the cost. Some shops even tow for free but they really expect you to get the work done at that point.

The thing is that with the car in one place, you in another place and all of us here - you can't guaruntee what the real electrical issue is.

a non running car could save you bookoo bucks if you are willing to tackle the problems yourself, could payoff or could be a nightmare of issues. I personally would play it safe and pay more for something running properly unless you are very mechanically inclined.

Well that happen to me not too long ago and it was the starter power cable that was shorting out, causing the car to not have no electrical power at all. Let me add it happened out of the blue.

1500 way too much for a car that doesn't run. If it doesn't run, then you're also taking the risk that everything else in the engine is blown up. It could have terrible rod knock, dropped valves, that "stage 4 fidanza clutch" popped, who knows.. you can't find out because you can't get it started without tearing into it.

Essentially, if the car doesn't run, then all these mods are absolutely worthless at time of sale. You have no idea what the condition any of them is.

On a side note, what is a "stage 4" fidanza clutch supposed to be anyway?
