I WANT MORE BOOST!!!!! 8 psi is laughed upon people around my area. I get rich daddy's little boys and especially girls with there suped up WRX's and damn V-tek's. I don't even have my car turbo yet so i don't care. Plus i do it for the fun of modding not showing off. But when i hear 8psi the first thought that comes to mind is.....thats not a lot.Now can i get turbo rods and pistons and put them in my 2g 420a if i get the cylinder bored out. Then run higher psi or am i dreaming to big. Please iv been sent to the N/A part of the site but since posting isn't allowed i cant so don't bother telling me.I just need to know if i can get higher psi is if bore out the cylinder and make them the right size for turbo rods and pistons. If not how can i get turbo rods and pistons for that engine. :dsm:

while 8 pounds of boost is by no means a lot of boost, for some cars and applications its is quite a bit.

Rx-7's for example. second gen tt's don't run nearly as much as our cars do. Same with a honda block. It's all relative to the application and design of the engine.
just have fun and don't concern yourself when someone wants to know what you're running and its not up to their expectations.

oh and building up your motor = key for big boost. You've got the right idea.

Our N/A applications have higher compression than the GS-T/X's, therefore when we boost 8 psi, it gives us more power than them(stock). But if you do a rebuild, with stronger rods, pistons, better rings and what not. Yes, you can run higher boost.

Check out HAHN they've built the worlds fastest 420A, you can also get forged rods and pistons from them so you can build your motor up to handle more boost. But don't forget about the rest of the necessary supporting mods.

ohh haha i thought he meant more internals ROFL ROFL now i have a walbro 190 fuel pump and 450 injectors given to me by a friend. Would those work for when i make it turbo.

save yourself the hassle and purchase either a gs-t or an x. you'll save more money and be better off in the long run

not guna happen man......my parents would have a ball....im doing this secret as it is now. Im guna guna run my car and say i blew the seals and take it to my buds shop and rip the engine out and put in the turbo pistons and rods......and look sell my gs for 3k and buy a 7k gst or X. Or i could put 800 if that into it and not have a car for a couple days. And then run 15psi.Long run......420a's have better compression blocks then a gst or x.

Well it depends what you want in the end. If you're set on turboing your 420A, you know the 4G63 guys are going to rag on you the whole time. However, Check out the non turbo to turbo conversion section of this forum. Read through a ton of posts and do your research. I had a 420A and was going to turbo it but I decided to go the more traveled route because I wanted AWD. If you plan on running alot of boost you're going to want bigger injectors then the 440 or 450's I can't remember what size you said they were. But they'll get you by at first.

ok so i can reach 15psi with custom pistons and rods. Obviously with the parts needed of course. And let them rag ;) they wount ever think anything of it untill it is side by side with them.:D

Perhaps, until you run into a gst/x that has as much money into it as your car does.

800 dollars and run 15 psi....
You're delusional.
7k for a gst or gsx? Mines for sale for 4500.
420a's have better compression blocks.... Maybe because it's naturally aspirated. Their motors can't compared. You'll need to drop a couple thousand bucks in it to get it at the same level as a 4g63.
You'll need to start reading a bunch of things before you go and start modding up your car. I'm not trying to sound mean, but you're going to blow something up with the mentality you have now.

I had a 97 RS and I was in the same position as you with turboing it. I was so set on doing all of the work and making my car turbo charged. I read on these forums for probably 4 months before i realized that it would cost me nearly 4grand to just get the car to run turbocharged w/ a FMIC (buying from retailers not custom). That was if i had the work all done by myself. Which wasn't happening. So i drove my car fixed it up made it run very nice. As soon as it was out of the shop and running well. I baught a GST. There is alot more work and research into turboing the 420a than typing a few words in a post on this forum. You are better off saving your money until you can buy almost everything at once to turbo your car / build your engine. Then decide what you want to do with the money. ( Turbo that 420a or buy a different/faster/more reliable car) That will give you time to research and not be so heated up by jerk offs around your town.

just my .02

Well here in mass our prices for eveything is increased by a lot. gsx's sell for no less then 8 and they will have over 130k already on it and gst's for maybe around 6. But hey if you want to drive down to fairhaven massachusetts and sell me your car ill have 4500 waiting for you....cash :)

hahaha i got 5 more years till I'm legal to buy beer.......plus like i said before I'm making my 420a turbo because i cant sell it. My parents would flip out and all this shiz so I'm going to be doing this like this winter I'm guna say the timing belt broke and take it to a friends shop rip the engine do the balance shaft elimination and put in turbo rods and pistons. Oh and by the way are reg gsx or gst pistons bigger then the 420a cylinder thats why they wont fit. I have the chance to buy brand new customs from a kid that is rich and doesn't need them so can i just bore the cylinder out a little(how much to bore if i can just do that) or would it be better just to keep them the way they are and go STRAIGHT custom ones that are like 800 maybe 6 or 7 cause a girl likes me at the shop :sneaky:. I CANT SELL MY CAR unless i beat this thing, its not guna happen. So turbo what you got. PS defiant you have no idea about the people around here man.......Cali has bad people but damn i get rich fools from Boston college with there "I'm a lawyer" crap moving to new bedford and the cape(yes new bedford was the biggest whaling port in the world at one point) and there is a ferry that goes to Martha's vineyard and people go there cause its where they filmed jaws the shark movie. So they move around here and buy there WRX's and drive round doing nothing all day. So the price for cars is higher cause of that kind of crap guys also the insurance plays a role too.

last i checked the 420a doesn't have balance shafts :nono:

Insurance is cheaper for me than if I had a non-turbo DSM.... weird huh?

Huh, 16 with a highly stressed motor that wasn't designed to be turbocharged. I see many mechanical failures in your future, at least until you wreck it. Seriously, if your 16 you want a beater thats forgiving, not some high strung nightmare thats going to torque steer and break all the time. If you want to spend money, I'd put it into suspension and brakes and then learn how to do real driving on roads with turns in them. Anyway just my 2 cents.
