I find myself like most finding myself thinking about buying another dsm, I've been toying with this idea for a few months now. Seems like I can never stay away, after owning maybe 5-6 of them, I never finish completing any of my builds something always comes up and I'll sell it for the money and buy another one later on. I own a mk3 supra now and even though it's been a good run with it, I've decided to put that on the back burner for now and get another dsm or let me just say 4g6? powered car. plans are to build the motor first and then find the car, only problem with that is 1g/2g/evo, and even the 3g and 8g galants are all so tempting. I've been wanting a 8g galant for a whiles and seeing how I can build a strocker powered fwd evo for less then an evo and have 4 doors for the family it's so tuff of a decesion which is what I need to pick so I can build the correct motor. so tempted on the power of a 2.4 motor and do a 5 speed swap, but finding all the parts is going to be the challenge I face. I think I'm going to pull the trigger tonight when I get home and start to order a few parts for the 2.4 8g galant. hoping to get complete within a year from today. What do you guys think? 9 second 8g galant awd....

I myself own a 2006 Galant with the 2.4l.I questioned the same thing,Wife won't let me.She drives it mostly.Love the car and the ride.I would go for it,it would be better than the ralliart edition with the v6.

I"m just glad I didn't sell alot of my turbo parts I had laying around, this is going to be a slow build but it will be worth it.

just buy it i bought mine for 1300 and im now trying to get it running with 306whp ive come so far with it just to getslowed down got any tips or used motor parts for a 1g eclipse gst :thumb:

master jared, I suggest to change all the maintance parts first, timing belt head gasket, head studs, waterpump, thermostat, and all the fluids, and seafoam the car, these are the number one parts that if you change them before throwing 306hp at your car it will last. my friend didn't do any of this when he bought a 1g awd and was highly ticked off when he tried to launch it and he blew the headgasket, he kept running the car and ended up cracking the head. He blamed the car and after smacking him a few times he realized it was his own fault. but parts wise for a 1g gst I have a stash of parts I went threw last night seeing what I might try and get rid of seeing how all my stuff is for a 6 bolt and the galants are 7 bolt. arp mains/rod bolts, acl tri metal bearings mains/rods, 2g exhaust mani, 2g o2 housing, extremepsi balance shaft removal kit, 550 injectors, greddy fmic, full gasket kit, 2g poly mounts. 2g eprom ecu, and probably alot more. I'm thinking I really need to set timeline goals, and price goals for each point I'm going for. not sure if I'm going to sell it or keep it for down the line and build a 6 bolt and just sell the whole motor.

Well guys its official I'm going for it plans are for a 8g awd galant I have sourced almost all the gsx suspension parts for the conversion. Plans are to build a 2.4 gt42r. I've gone a head an ordered arp bolts ACL bearings metal hg and bought evoscan. suspension parts are coming when I sell my eprom ecu and apexi downpipe and ACL arp bearings and bolts. pics will come when things come in can't wait to be in evo territory and in the 9s

So at this point 370 views with a couple of comments, hhmm seems like I'm doing something wrong...oh yeah pictures. well I've been doing a little cleaning and parts sourcing for this 8g AWD galant build and found that I'm a dsm parts hoarder thats going to make this build a little easier. so heres the pictures you probably all are craving for. I still need to name this build something. any ideas....

95 2g gst exhaust manifold (I know I know not the best choice but it was free if I don't get one with the evo 8 head this will be going on to get the car up and running, plus it needs to be cleaned pretty bad)

this will probably be the only way you'll see this since I'll be in front of you. oh yeah that is a 2g gst downpipe behind it and it's almost as big as that.

more pics of what I have already once my dam blackberry connects to my computer to upload.

So after much debate I've decided to steal some parts from my supra to help with this project, first I'm borrowing for the mean time, 650cc injectors. (it's late and there still on the car so no pics) but heres a few pics from awhile back when I rebuilt the 20g turbo. (sorry for the crappy pics were on a motorola Q) this turbo will help get the car up and running till I finalize weather I'm going with a gt42r or something more 2.4l friendly.

Sounds like a fun project. Though I also considered using one I have to ask, why the 8g Galant? It is much heavier than the 7g. My awd 7g weighs in at only 3100 lbs. If I remember right you'll start out at 3600 with the 8g.

On the plus side, the looks of the 8g are very sharp and you can use the Evo rather than the DSM 4G63 parts. What will you use for a tuning solution? Will the Evo ECU/harness work? That will be the most important part of your build. I found the mechanical bits were time consuming but fairly easy on my swap.

from what I've researched there is a company that makes jumper harness that plugs into the galants harness and will plug into the evo 8 ecu, I'm planning to tune with Evoscan currently until I find something better. I decided on the 8g galant because of style, I never was a big fan of the 7g, plus the 8g is bigger and more suited to family needs. The only hurdles I'm going to run into is hoping my wife doesn't wreck the dam thing, because she'll be driving it while it's in automatic form, and sourcing down suspension parts, I found a really cheap awd subframe and I stupidly waited to purchase it for dirt cheap and then the next day it was gone, I actually just got my w2 yesterday and fileing today so hopefully soon I'll have pics of the rear suspension, drive shaft and rear end and hopefully trans if I can source one down locally.

I actually just registered on TGC, I was going to post this on there but it got late, SN: pooprajoe

So guys sorry havn't posted in a whiles been pretty busy at work and havn't had time to even look at anything really car related, but anyways I have good, bad, great news, I just got the word that my job is shutting down on feb 27th there pulling our account away and unless some other company comes threw and signs a contract I'll be out of a job, lately I've been thinking of applying to be a cop, anyways that was the bad news, good news is that I finally finished my DC intgera project and going to post it for sale so I can fund this EvoG project, and for the great news I just filed my taxes today and getting 5k back (oh hell yeahhhhhhhhhh), so in about 2 weeks will be ordering a few parts here and there, but trying to save money until I find another job. This project will see the light of day and track no matter what. I vow dsmtuners will see a AWD turbo 8g galant from me. within a year. until I have another update guys.

TEASER: so it was ordered.....will ship out monday and take 2-7 days for delivery.....will tell you with a picture once it arrives.....

GUYS THIS IS THE POINT WHERE YOU SUBSCRIBE TO SEE THE BEAUTFIUL BUILD TRANSFORM......THE BEAST IS COMING....

If that's a single vaned compressor wheel, which it appears from the pic, its in no way a 20g. That looks like a 17c from a SY/TY or maybe a 19c wheel.

I'll double check my information on the turbo, but from the looks of things it probably actually won't be on the car at all and I'll be able to get the gt42r as planned in the next few months....

Update: The teaser finally came in last night, a hell of alot faster then I thought. I do have pictures won't be able to post them until I get out of work. now it's just finding the small parts to finish it, it's coming along way faster only because dsmtuners.com has a search button....

what I came home to in the down pour, it was raining cats and dogs. OMG what is that????

rear subframe, finally found one for a hell of a deal,
IMG00109-20100211-1808.jpg

this thing needs cleaning like a dirty hooker, yes thats a b18b1 ls block it's sitting on, a ka24 block in the back, a ka24de trans somewhere back there, muffler and many many random parts from maybe 3 cars, no garage which sucks. anyways I really want to thank Allen at (THEDSMGRAVEYARD.COM) he was a great help thanks for unplugging from call of duty in the middle of the game to take my order HELL of late after hours of your shop. This is one of the most hardest pieces of the puzzle to find, my area has very limited DSMs so finding this was golden, now wrecked evos are on my list now gotta drive to Waco which is like a 5 hour trip to pick up trans, and diff and random other parts.

Sorry guys been pretty busy, well little update, theres not alot that's been done besides cleaning up the subframe and putting a coat of paint on it, I've been on the hunt between this site and EvoM hunting for Evo8 parts. I'm mainly looking for parts that are harder to find for me, well finally found one hell of a deal that should be here in a few days.

5spdShifterAssembly2.jpg

5spdShifterAssembly.jpg

picked up for 60 shipped for everything. everywhere else sales just the cables for about 120+ and the shifter base is hell of hard to find even with out the actual shifter.

I'm trying now to work a deal for the pedals and clutch master and slave cylinders which will hopefully be here next week.

also still trying to get rid of my 2g M/T Eprom ecu and 6 bolt acl rob/main bearings and 6 bolt arp rod bolts. if anyone knows anyone I will work out a beyond good deal. PM me
