8 valve 63 head swap on a 64 block

I have a car with a g63b that cracked and locked up, I'm having a hard time finding a 63 block for a decent price (east Texas, pm me) but I've found some 64s for cheap.

I'm wondering that since the 8 valve head has distributor ignition I can account for the higher compression and keep the stock computer. I'm also concerned that SOHC parts like timing covers would be hard to find

Do you know the head volume/piston dish volume/final combustion chamber volume for the 64 block you'll be going with? How high a compression ratio are we talking?

Ignition timing can be reduced directly via most distributors to make the thing live, but I admittedly am not familiar with the 8 valve SOHC head at all. Those are a very dated design.

You might be able to use a thicker MLS headgasket to drop the CR and/or shop around for a lower compression version of the 64 with some dished out pistons if you're just swapping the block and slapping the old head on it.
