Sorry about the large pic...I was wondering what an 8.2 @ 86 mph would translate to in the 1/4 mile. Unfortunately, I had to shut down since I had a hard getting the tranny to grab 4th. I think I was shifting too hard/fast. This was my 3rd ever pass at the track so I still have some learning to do. I made two passes that were almost identical; same problem going into 4th! Thanks for any feed back.

Anywhere from a 12.5 to a 13.0, all depends on a few things. Pull of the turbo and shifting the gears. Unfortunately the later has gotten you, LOL. Keep it up man!

Crap!! Those were both 12 sec runs and either I missed 3rd to 4th gear (twice) or my tranny is deciding to go!   thanks tho

Dang, what runs an 18.3?? truck?

3.0 60' is down right embarassing. I would have suspected a truck with HORRIBLE lag (F350) or something, haha. :p

If you read a little bit closer, it says "FOUL", in his side, so maybe he redlighted, and just gave up?.

Well, how and where are you guys shifting? As soon as I saw the needle passing 6500-6600 I was on the clutch and slamming gears. By the time it registered to shift I was closer to 7k. I was really slamming the gears hard...I forgot to mention, on both occasions when I missed (or couldnt engage 4th) the rpms jumped to 8k and according to my logger right at 7989rpms knock went from zero to 39! The knock only lasted that split second...luckily no engine damage occurred. The car drove good all the way home and I did a compression test that read 167-165-165-167... :thumb: The reason I was hitting the gears so hard was to make up for my weak shifting last time when I hit my previous 13.9. I think I may have psyched myself out too much. :D Thanks again for the responses.

it's not MAYBE, he/she did redlight on the tree. perfect R/T on bracket racing is .500 any R/T lower than that is a red light.

Nah, I own a civic. A 70 crank-horsepowered 2000lb stock CX hatch runs 20's at 65mph. High 19's if you're lucky. A DX motor (+34hp) in the same car w/straight exhaust, wrong injectors, no muffler, cold air intake, and the same transmission runs 17.9's (with check engine lights). Now imagine adding the weight of the coupes/4-doors, or power steering, or God forbid a passenger. My bet is that guy was really trying.

(Go here only if you care: http://homepage.mac.com/jafro/PhotoAlbum8.html)

I got lucky and broke into the 12's this year with the GSX. Here's a timeslip with a 8.19 1/8 mile. If you could take a tenth off of your 60', it's worth .2 off your 1/4 mile ET. But a 1.8 ain't bad. :thumb:

Good luck with your tranny. If you're not already... maybe try thinner gear oil, or a synthetic. If you're winding out 4th gear, the 40w non-synthetics can make shifting a little difficult. At least they did for me. BG Synchroshift II fixed my problems.

just FYI...the civic was my friend/ex-hump buddy...shes a ricer but at least shes into cars...she was pulling .520 lights all day so shes good at the tree...her car is just slow :p
EX but its vtec

she minght be a good R/T on the tree type of person but something is wrong with her driving. there's no reason an EX SOHC vtec should be running 18's. she should be in the high 16's range unless she has one short leg and can't clutch it on time! j/k

ive driven the car, its similar to my 2g...i think her sucking at driving is a lot of it..and it has like 200,000 on the clock...plus she had to have the body kit and wing and hood scoop

8.2s are good for high12s. gears are little different than my car, i'm just grabbing 4th at the end of the 1/8th and am running (before cams etc) 7.9-8.0s on 12.5sec runs. 8.2s got me around 12.7@108. my traps are low cause my tranny sucks, i need a shep tranny.
since my cams i've run 12.8@111 with a really really crapy tranny. we're talking no engagment of gears above 6500rpm. I'm shifting at 7200

Thanks man. I think high rpm engagement issues kept me from getting into 4th and ultimately from achieving a 12 sec run. I might try it again next week and this time I will shift into 4th at or below 6500rpm.

first time at the track(1/8mile) i could only muster out a 9sec time(running through waterbox not burning out, cheap sumitumo 560 treadwear tires, and stock suspension)but
my mph was in the 81-82 range about the same as some of you guys in the 8.2-8.5 sec
or maybe a couple mph less......why......i was pulling 1.70,1.90 and even missing gears
pulled a 2.00 60ft times........i am running a ported/clipped 16g,550cc,fmic,afc,190lph,and
pushing about 15-17psi........is my car faer than what i ran...if i get more experience and not run in the water box......it was also really cold that night too

Your car is faster. With the mods you listed, you should be able to turn up the boost a bit... like 20 PSI, and have a blast. You'll improve your 1/8 mph.

If you're worried about stock head bolts and internals, I used to run my 2g like that and didn't have problems. You can change the head bots/studs without removing the head, too. So at your next timing belt, change them 1 at a time in the correct tightening order. ;)

I always run around the water box. Some of the dudes with the hoses look at me funny, but that's becoming a lot less common these days. Just make sure you always line up on the black stuff.
