Hey guys, thanks for looking. Ive searched and read the magnus guide to the swap, but I still dont have a grasp on the motor mount issue. What is the best way to go about doing this?

I know you mate the 2g mount with the 1g tensioner arm, but I dont really know what that means exactly. Also, I understand there is more than one way to go about doing this?

<br.<br>I have a newly rebuild 6 bolt longblock fully timed and a full 7bolt torn apart and out of the car already.

You just cut the small piece off the motor mount, that's all. There's no mating or several ways to go about it. It's such a small piece that you have to cut, it doesn't take more than 2 minutes with the proper tools.

BISHILVR: yeah you should haha, im probably going to be dropping it in in the next few weeks if you want to join...

and olmytsi: Yeah thats what I was figuring, but do i just pull the whole black piece off and put the 2g one on after I cut it a bit. And when I take the pulleys off, is the timing going to get screwed up? I dont want to mess with any of the timing because Im not too experienced with that. And i was reading the magnus guide and it talked about tensioning something by hand and all this stuff.

If you mess up the timing dont worry about it, because I have the special tools to put everything back, and yes you most likely will put it out of time when you pull the idler and related parts out, I dont see how you would do it without loosing the settings. Aim me if you want. aim=bishilvr1

Awesome. So to clarify, im pulling the whole mount off the 7bolt, and putting it on the 6bolt after putting those two pulleys? I will definitely get ahold of you when i goto time it and put the CAS in!

Also, does that L shaped piece come with the mount?

Bringing this back to life. Does anyone have an image of the bracket after it was cut. I'm not sure if I was looking at what I have wrong or what, but it didnt seem to match up at all. Perhaps I grabbed the wrong motor mount when I was at the shop (had a non 2g one as well I believe).

It should be pretty obvious. The 2g engine mount has 3 holes in it, and the 1g only has one (on the surface that attaches to the motor mount). It's been a few months since I did mine, but I'm doing another soon... maybe I'll pull the mount out and take some pictures for you tonight or tomorrow if I've got time. If you have the 2g mount, just hold it up to the 1g motor and compare where the other mount was. You should see where the mount will hit the water pump.

Thats exactly what I thought. Since I only get one shot, I wanted to make sure that I was thinking of things correctly. You just simply cut and grind off that one bolt hole and thats it. Feel free to take a nice picture for both myself as well as others who may come across this thread. It would be good to have posted since Magnus no longer has theirs listed. It doesnt seem like a hard mod at all, but it still is nice to have a good visual.

I did the 6 bolt swap on my eclipse last year and what i found easiest was to mark on the mount what i needed to cut off in order to have clearance. Then i simply used a saw zaw to cut off the bolt hole. May not look the prettiest, but does that trick.
hope it helps.
