Toronto,
I just got my motor back a few days ago and I wanna store it for a while during the winter.

Wanna know what is the best way to store a built motor.

Should I add 4L of oil?
leave the spack plugs in?
If i dont put oil, should i turn the crank pulley once in awhile to move the pistons up&down?

How do other keep the motor stored?

Any tips?

first block off all openings. with like towels (shop, or rags) and put oil inside the cylinders. like pour it down where the spark plugs are. dont fill it up just a little bit so nothing rusts inside. proably crank it with a breaker bar after that if you can. then spray all the bare metal with wd40. then cover it with a plastic cover. that should be enough to prevent rust and not cause any damage. yeah also turn the crank every so often. and i would fill the motor with oil. whats it gunna hurt? and oil is cheap anyways.

Do everything he said above, then instead of covering it with plastic, take some saran or plastic wrap, and go around and around until you know everything is sealed off.

I don't like the sealed-in-plastic idea. Any moisture inside is trapped by it. I'd prefer to bundle it up in an oily sheet. The fumes should displace any free air, and keep moisture away.

i was saying like cover it with a plastic computer montior cover or something like that so it hangs freely

I put one away for about 6 months with just plastic over it, and the air to surface contact put surface rust all over it. Just my experience though.
