Just like the title says, I measured my hx40, and its a 60mm 8 blade.... from everything I've read an 8 blade should be smaller....anyone run across this? I used a digital micrometer, so it's not like im guessing with a tape measure or anything. I'll have pics uploaded in a bit.

They did make a 8 blade 60mm Hx40, their just rare!

Nice, so I should get insta-spool and a lot of flow then huh? LOL. Do you know which map applies to these? Or if anyone has verified a flow amount.
edit: how do you tell if its a billet wheel? I found a thread on a dodge forum saying that the city buses and similiar setups used billet wheels b/c they didnt run air filters....the guy I bought this from gets them from a salvage yard, he said this was off a transit bus.... assembly number is 3595810. Can't find much in the way of interchange on this...but so far it's a good surprise

I noticed that, but it looked really smooth and uniform on all of the blades(the indentations werent jagged or anything)....what would cause it to do that but have almost no shaft play and no marks in the compressor housing from anything hitting? I need to look at it closer I guess...what would it do if I ran it like that? It was supposedly taken off a running vehicle

edit: and where would be the best place to get a new blade?

Who knows...could've injested something small or soft while under full boost so it caught every blade before passing through the turbo.

The inducer tips of your compressor wheel aren't in the best shape, but they would fall under what I'd consider "normal wear". If it weren't for that groove around the radius of the wheel I'd say you could use it with no problem.

Just because the vehicle was running doesn't mean the turbo wasn't performing at it's peak.

Bus garages aren't the best example of "perfect maintenance". LOL I deliver parts to a local Coach Bus garage on occasion and one day they were servicing a bus and had the air filter element removed from the turbo (appeared to be a Garrett GT40), and the compressor wheel was damaged this bad or worse:

...they had no intention of pulling that bus off the road and changing the turbo, it was merely in for a routine service.

Turbo parts dealer or a Cummins dealer....you'd either need the part number from the wheel itself or from the badge on the turbo's compressor cover to get the right wheel.
