Hey everyone... i have a quick question. i have a fully built 6 bolt long block that im putting it in my '98 TSI AWD. i want to know what coil pack i need to use. Magnus Motorsport says to use a 1g coil pack in there 1gina2g thing. do i really need to use it?.. what has everyone else used and what year coil pack. i do have a 1g '90 coil pack, but its different i think.

any other info would help

thanks again
TIM

so i guess i need a 91-94 coil pack then. or can i just use my '98 one and re-wire the thing?! because i still have to use my stock '98 transistor pack(TR). so i cant use the '90 coil because the TR for the '90 is wired into the wires that go to the back of the coil.

Do all the coil packs have the same spark volts or amps or whatever it is?!

also i was told that the 89-92 green lid ones are prone to cause random midfires? does anyone know if this is true?

TIM, i can still get ahold of my 91 coil pack if you would like. Im going to need the 90 to trade the kid tho.-Ben

It does not matter which coil pack you use. I have tried both the 1g and 2g coil packs on mine with no effect at all. It really depends on which manifold you are using and what will be easier to mount. If your going with a 1G manifold go with the 1G coil pack to save yourself some trouble mounting it. As for the CAS, the green lid CAS functions fine, but the black lid Hall-Effect CAS is more accurate from what I've read. That's what is on my car. I haven't been hit with misfire yet so maybe I'm just getting lucky. Some ECUs are different from others though so it's kind of a toss up. If you have any more questions go to the yahoo group 1gina2g. They have a ton of stuff in the archives, but do a search before you post a question because you'll probably find you answer immediately.
