I am doing a 6 bolt swap and put in an engine from Japan. My question is I was hearing that I couldn't use the intake that came with the 1g engine. Is this true? I checked the Mangus site and roadracing site, and in none of those articles does it say I can't use the 1g intake just to swap the other pieces. But my buddy that has a 1g came and told me that there is a set of secondary flappers that open up on the 1g intake that I would not be able to get to work unless I had a dsm link. Somthing about would have to hook it up to the nitrous connection or somthing I really dunno. The 1g intake looks a lot bigger and I thought I would ask around and get opinions from ppl who have been through this already or just put on my 2g one. Thanks Johnny:dsm:

yes, you can use the 1g manifold. As a matter of fact, its best to use it, as you stated, the runners are MUCH bigger. But I wouldn't mix a 1g manifold with a 2g head unless there was some port matching. But I'm assuming you are useing the 1g head. Only difference otherwise is that the 1G manifold doesn't have a place for your MDP sensor. So you have to somehow tie it into your brake booster.

Does the intake say "cyclone" on it and have dual runners to each intake port? The JDM only cyclone intake had dual tuned length runners with a set of flappers that would open up the shorter set of runnners when the ECU told it to (in order to increase top-end performance) and it had longer primary runners than the single runners of USDM intake manis for better low-end torque as well. The problem is that your USDM ECU will not operate the cyclone's butterflys on the short runners. There are however some other ways to rig it up to work, such as using DSMLink nitrous controls.

Whether you should use it or not is really more about your end goal for the car. If it will remain mostly stock, you might try to use it but if you plan on really increasing performance you'll likely be replacing the intake with a higher flow and larger plenum design down the road anyway. You can also use it without the function of the short runners, but you'll be sacrificing top end flow by only using the long runners.

Thanks for the info guys. The intake does not say cyclone it says "ecu multi turbo intercooled" in red letters. I am using a full 6 bolt engine in the car and already did all the mods needed to make it fit in my 2g so the motor is already in. I was just hearing that if I were to use the 1g intake I wouldnt be able to get the full potential out of it because of those extra flappers. The motor came with blue injectors and I here that is from a galant but not real sure. I already put back on the 2g intake so it will have to do. What kind of hp diffrence will there be? I plan on leaving the internals stock for now because of all the problems I had when I built up my 7 bolt. But I will be running 550 injectors, 255 fuel pump, AFC,air intake, full catback exhaust and Greddy intercooler. I finally got a boost contoller so I am gonna crank up that little 14b turbo for now until I get a bigger one. I was thinking of going with the green turbo what kinda of opinions do yall have on that one?

Thanks Again guys for the helpful info, Johnny:thumb:
