I haven't been able to find anything specific on this. I am wondering at what hp and boost level the stock 6 bolt rods would need to be upgraded. I would like to run 30psi max and around 500 awhp. I am running wiseco pistons and all arp hardware top to bottom. I have heard the stock 6 bolt rods will handle anywhere from 28 to 32 psi and upwards of 550 whp. Really I'm more concerned with the max boost level than anything. Any help would be appreciated.

well i cant tell you any exact numbers but imo every motor is different.....i believe that a good tune makes all the difference tho

Boost really dont madder, it depends on the airflow being pushed. I run 32psi all day on stock bottom end, head and headstuds. But this is only a 16g. ECMlink estimates 400+whp and dynoed 327whp on a load bearing dyno.

People have pushed near 600whp on stock internals. Like stated its usually all in the tune. I would say if you want 500whp on a dyno jet you will be ok.

After I get link in july, Im taking my 6-bolt/1g big rods/Nippon pistons to 500hp on an hx-40.

Ill let you know what happens.

If anything I hope my cometic hg and arp's can handle that. **Goes into garage, retourqes headstuds**

Jk

it will be capable of handle mid 500s but i would say that is maxing it out! wouldnt go any higher then that! so i would say if you think you might want more to just upgrade the rods now!

Thanks guys. I am running a pte 57 trim which is capable of around 545 hp and I don't plan on running over 21 psi daily and 30 psi at the track with race gas so I was thinking I'll be safe on stock rods. Please chime in if you feel different. I can buy a set of rods but I can think of other things to do with $300 if it's not a necessary upgrade.
