Please be nice...LOL

Anyway, finally got the last of the old block stripped down and getting ready to start putting the new one together. As I look around the engine to make sure I haven't missed anything I come across the squirters, on the old block.

So, I've search around and seen different opinions (expected that), as to whether they are really necessary, reason being, I looked for the mounting hole on the new block and CRAP, it's a non-turbo block.

Anyway, research leads me to believe I should be ok. This is not a daily driver, so won't see daily abuse. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it'll be ok to put it back together without Y or N??

Second thing, and this is a noob question, The new block has a BSEK, I've checked and it's been done properly. BUT on the main crank pulley, do I still need to put the old balance shaft drive pulley behind for spacing or does the timing belt pulley butt up to end of the crank without that sprocket spacing it??

I've attached a pic just make sure I'm talking the right one.

Sorry this is a long post but I'm waiting on ARP studs for the head to arrive and I want to get moving with this rebuild.

thanks guys.:thumb:

Put that gear back on the crank for the BS pulley, just don't put the belt on because you won't need it.

You will be ok without oil squirters, assuming you're running forged pistons.

If you have BSE and no squirters, your oil pressure will be pretty high! Make sure to do all the oil pressure relief mods (oil filter housing and in the head).

from what I can tell it's new pistons, but I just posted another thread on that! I'm pretty sure they're not forged and at this point in my budget I'm screwed for getting new pistons.

I'll have to research the oil mods again and make sure I get them done.

Thanks.

Yea, it's always very dangerous to buy a short block used from a guy. I did and I got a turbo block, but didn't have oil squirters and I apparently never noticed and couldn't figure out why I had no oil pressure for the longest time! Hahah....

But yea, I would do as much research as possible about running without the squirters. Unfortunately I can't provide too much insight her as to the pros/cons. Good luck.
