I have a 97 talon tsi automatic that has jumped time so I have oped to put a 6 bolt in. I know I had to have the ipt "kiggly kit" which I purchased, but my question is about the ecu I dont have an epromed ecu and was wondering if I need one or can I use the one I currently have???

You can use your stock ECU, but you'll probably get some misfire codes. In order to stop this, you'll need to change one of the values your ECU sees. So you'll probably either need an AFC, get an Eprom, or go with a standalone. More information can be seen here (1g in 2g, end of article): http://www.magnusmotorsports.com/tech/index.htm

I have a 95 gsx auto with a 6 bolt. The cas was rewired and everything else was done. I still had the check engine light though. I have dsm link so I went on there and clicked invert CAS. The engine light has never come back. I dont know if you will or will not have the engine light.

He will not need to invert, since he has a 97-99. On a 95-96, you need to. The article I posted from Magnus explains this.

I think you misunderstood what he was trying to say. Read the article you posted a little more carefully. He was talking about using dsmlink's invert cas option to get rid of the random misfire (not talking about the plugs). You can get the rm code no matter what year you have.

This information is incorrect as well... The AFC and eprom ECU will not stop your rm (random misfire). The "best" way to get rid of it would be dsmlink (which requires an eprom ecu). However I have heard good things about the vol. control knob, which is in the article posted from Magnus.

Edit: Sorry, got a little off topic. So the answer to the original question: Yes you can use your ECU, however you will most likely come across the random misfire. In your case you could just use the vol. control knob, or buy and eprom ECU and DSMlink (kinda pricey).

Thanks for the back up info. I was refering to the engine light coming on from the misfire. The misfire will make you car feel like its going to blow up. An issue you will have to correct either with dsm link and an eprom ecu, or you can try the other way that the other guy posted.

If you have more questions about the swap and are on AOL IM me at TenxSecondxGSX. I will try to help you with as much as I possibly can. If not some of the old wisemen here surely can.

well here is the verdict i finished the swap no cel drove it for about 5 straight hours runs great the only problem I had was with the carrier bearing on the back of the block should've researched more and a high idle around 2 grand for the first 5 minutes until it warms up then no problems any suggestions on the idle??
