I am putting my 91 GSX back together (head Gasket) and I was thinking about getting the 550 injectors since I just got a real boost gauge and a air/fuel guage. I figure this would be enough to make sure I'm running right. I work at an auto parts store but we have a stupified computer system. What cars have 550 injectors that will fit? Or more percise what are some part numbers I can cross reference? Also the same for the fuel pump? I read everyone using the walbro 255. What is comparable in a stock pump? THanks...

Or If your gonna tell me to search at least give me a link of specifics...

Thanks
Mike

I'm not bumping "i learned my lessons on bumping"! I just did some reading on the injectors. It seems the turbo Rx7 had the same injector size... Are there any others?

YOu're going to need more than "gauges" to make your car run right. That will just tell you what's going on...not modify you air to fuel ratio. You'll need something to just that...like an AFC for instance.

As for part #s. Most of us just buy the injectors from vendors versus scavenging them from cars so we don't associate them with a specific car.

evo8 injectors are 560cc , i think. some use evo8 fuel pumps too. you could prob. find them on a evo website. look for either a supra fuel pump (denso) or evo8 fuel pump or go ahead and get the walbro 255.

i agree, you still gonna need a "computer" to control the air/fuel...that A/F gauge will just tell you what you re running at, it will not let you fix the air/fuel mixture. a waste, IMHO.

Dont buy replacement injectors or a fuel pump from your part store. You want name brand or OEM so I wouldnt even search for them at your work. If you decide to upgrade the injectors and fuel pump you 100% need something to control the fuel(safc, flashed ecu, link).

Any turbo evo will have what you want.

I meant that I can read what going on more accurately than before when I blew my head gasket (no boost gauge& with a MBC). I will eventually have all the go faster parts and the tool to properly use the go-fasters. I am just trying to do it all slowly and without breaking the bank. Thanks

keep the suggestions comming

I have to debate what you said. The ECU will NOT!!! adjust to the injectors. With the fuel pump and 550's you will be running real rich. you need a SAFC

Running a mbc with no boost gauge is a REAL BAD IDEA!!!

You can get 550cc injectors off of almost all turbo evos for about $100-$150 for all four so thats cheaper than the RX7's I guess you are familiar with.

I am now concentraiting on just getting it running! This car is a pita to get everything right back the way it's supposed to be. I blocked my egr, and built my own catch can. This is the first time i've tore into a 4 cylinder so it seems a lot more overwellming than it it really is, im sure... My catch can is pretty sweet, though! I'll post pictures as soon as friday night. I should have it up and running by then. After it starts and I can drive it again I'll start worring about the injectors again.

Should I still rewire my stock pump? Before, when I would drive it realy hard I would feel like the car was falling on its face when I got deep into the boost. That is the problem, isn't it? I already did my CAPs.

thanks,
Mike

No your problem is not controlling those injectors. Probably rich knock and pulling timing. Should not run more than 12psi without control over them and the stock pump cant handle more than 14-16psi.

I meant I'll start learning more about that Fuel controlers/injectors& the boost controlers after I get the car running back at least to stock... Tommorrow! I'm going now to start working on the lil beast. Wish me luck! it ran with a blown head gasket, lets hope it runs after I put it back together!!!!:D :dsm:
