54 counts of knock!

Hi had a couple of my friends saying its base timing or rich knock. I currently alomost lost a timing belt it was tor down the middle but stayed tensioned. Well I put a new timing belt on there and now after all this I now get on the throttle and the knock goes through the roof. Any ideas why this is? Oh and the af gauge stays at solid rich

How do you get 54 counts of knock, from what I know, knock only goes to 43 counts (max value), as seen on a pocket logger.

If your using an AFC to look at knock, I do not think that is a correct value or can trust it. I think it is a percentage of knock or somethinglike that. Anyone else have comments on this.

Sounds like your timing may be off....... How did you figure 54 counts of knock?

i would say timing.... you have a loger you should know how rich its running and as for the a/f gauge it isnt worth a damn. you cant tune your car with it so your best off just ignoring it.. go get a timing light and set your timing takes about 15-20 mins

the knock count is coming from the afc 2 and today i tested it and it hit 129!! I have backed off from boosting it hard or over 8psi at all. But how can the timing be off if I timed it correctly on the motor

Yeah, my AFC also does that. But is is not consistant with the pocketlogger. ECU knock values go from 0 (min) to 43 (max). Hook a pocketlogger up and you will see that, if you do indeed have knock. The AFC reads something different, some percentage of something (not really sure what it is), and is a value from 0 (min) to ### (max).

When the AFC would show knock (like your 125), the pocketlogger would show 0 knock and good timing. Other times the pocketlogger would show knock with little to no timing when the AFC would show 0. I trust the pocketlogger and not the AFC for knock.

it ended up being the knock sensor blown and it was normal for a while like stasyed inbetween 0-10 now once again it has come back and I hit 210 I totally dont get it. I know the afc is in acurate and such but even when it was normal it stays between 0-10. I have not touched anything related to the timing or nothin
