Hi, quick question.

I will be using a BW s258 0.70a/r and the rest of the turbo setup is very efficient, currently im running a stock 6 bolt.

During the winter, i will be building the engine, as well as the transmission, for the engine, i plan to keep stock bore, and just drop in some rods/pistons (0.020 over). I was considering just a weisco piston 9:1 and a pauter rod. Then using some acl bearings and all new mitsu gaskets and such.

For the cylinder head i have is stock, with just some revised topline lifters and some fp2's cams. However, i plan to ditch to fp's in favor of some HKS 272's, as well as some supertech or ferrea springs/retainers.

My main concern, will i need to port the stock head, or will it become inefficent at this power level? I was really hoping i didn't have to port it.. Im looking for 5-550awhp.

Thanks, let me know what you guys think with the stock cylinder head. The rest of the 'turbo parts' that will be used are in my profile, 3" exhaust, aem ems, aem water/meth injection, sls manifold, tial 44 gate, smim, precision 650hp ic, 2.5" charge pipes, pte 1000cc's, etc..

You would be fine the stock 1g head flows good. If i was to do anything it would be to open up the exhaust a little just to port match. I did not want to lose to much bottom end so i did no porting on my head i just had the seats opened for 1mm over valves and matched the bowl.

I second the bowl work. Cleaning up the casting marks and knife edging the intake runner dividers with help also. As stated above the stock 1g heads flow well for what they are. Just remember to keep it simple. The FP2's are a good cam. I don't see any reason to ditch them in favor of a set of HKS 272's. You could also save yourself some green and go with a cryo treated Eagle H beam set of rods instead of the Pauters, but to each his own.

I too am wondering why ditch the FP2's to go 272's? The FP2's actually put abit more emphesis on top end flow vs the 272's, which is what your looking for with your goal? Also as said, if anything just do some cleaning up on the 1g head as it shouldn't give you any issues at those power levels.

You will be fine with a stock 1G cylinder head and some decent cams.

The attention should be centered on the fuel system and drivetrain to hold up to 500-550WHP abuse. My question to you is why you picked the AEM EMS for your engine management if your goal is only 550 WHP. DSMlink is a much better choice in my opinion.

With regards to the aem ems, there really is no specific reason why i used it, however it will do what i need it to do, and since its already purchased theres really no problem now.

I will stick with the fp2's if they will do what i want them, i haven't done much research on cams before i purchased these and ran them on my stock motor. However i will upgrade the springs/retainers so i can turn this thing to atleast 8k.

For the drivetrain, i have a act 6puck sprung disc and xtreme duty pp, as well as a act streetlite flywheel. I have a good 93 transmission that i will use as a core for a build on a shep stage 4, a 4bolt rear end w/lsd, and i will be using a stock transfer case.

As for axles and driveshaft, i haven't done much research yet to see what area needs the most attention, but when i do that i will upgrade as needed.

The fuel system i still have to figure out what i need to do, i currently just have a intake 255 walbro, and a aeromotive fpr, with pte 1000cc injectors. If i need to upgrade the feed line, or do dual walbro's (a single should be fine for 550whp dont you think), and the injectors should be fine as well.

On another note.

In the spring i 'refreshed' the motor, i did apr's, a mls head gasket, waterpump, timing belt, tension etc.. replaced every seal that was leaking all that stuff. My stock 6 bolt is in great shape.

My friend wants me to just pull the oil pan, pull the head and pull out the stock rod/piston combo though the top, then assemble some new ones (stock bore), and just drop them in with new rings and new bearings (just rod bearings). He did this on his 2.4L build for his neon (used srt4 internals) and he has no problems.

But i think i want my build to be a big more of a 'sure thing'.

Thanks.

I would say do a bosch 044 inline, and a -8 feed line. If you got doe do the -6 return, that will be enough fuel to keep a cushion under you. The single 255 isnt gonna cut it, atleast put a 255hp in there or a supra pump

Aem is great, and gives your plenty of room in the future when 500hp isnt enough haha. Im currently on aem, if you need help with maps, or need a really good base map let me know. I tuned it myself, and im currenty running 25 26psi on pump gas. Its a street killer

Im currently running fp2s on my 2.4, i like them alot, dont wanna dig in there yet. Plan on something bigger in the future when i go bigger on the turbo.

If you have more money here also, i would try to go to a twin disk clutch setup (ptt or quartermaster) I have a ptt on my car, and its so far the best, most consistant clutch ive owned. It shifts on a dime. I can load up the trans on the ebrake and riding the clutch and it virtually ensures me that driveline shock will be minimum

I ported my head on my car, gasket matched/knife edged the dividers, bowl ported, and raised the intake chambers. The exhaust i didnt go to crazy with. I opened it up alittle but did not port match. Bowl ported and slightly knife edged, and raised the chambers. Make sure you keep the "D" shape of the ports
