Hello DSM Tuners,

I have a FMIC with a Maf-t. I had everything tuned out with my 14B, no knock. I just bought a t3/t4 50 Trim, .63A/R along with Denso 720cc injectors. With a 8 pound spring, max psi right now until I get a 255LH pump. I am also running on stock fuel pump. My question is when tuning with my Logger what should I start out with before I do my tuning run?? I know I need to tune for the 720cc injectors because I was using the stock ones. Should I turn the base idle up 1 or 2 clicks from my 14B tuning along with the wot?? All I need is to get the car to idle and run some what so that I can tune with my logger. Will there be a Big difference during idle or mid throttle with the CFM between the 14B and 50 Trim, enough to knock bad??

Thanks For you Time

Zero that MAFT out and start fresh. With new injectors and a new turbo, you've changed up too many things to get away with just altering your BASE settings. Adjust your settings in this order: BASE, MID, WOT, IDLE. It's recommended that your logger is in the graph mode versus the big number mode, it makes things easier. You probably know how to tune with the MAFT, but here's for everyone else who is unfamilar with how to tune with the MAFT and logger.

BASE:
Cruise between 50-70 mph, keeping an eye on your O2 trims. Adjust the BASE until the O2 cycles around between 90 - 110%

MID:
Slow to 3000 in 3rd gear, roll on the throttle making sure you stay in closed loop mode (where the O2 trims keep cycling back and forth). If the O2 drops when you roll on the throttle, increase your MID setting. If it rises, then decrease it. Adjust until the O2 change is no longer noticable.

WOT:
Slow to 3000 in 3rd gear, and open it up to redline. Watch your injector duty cycle and knock count. If you pick up more than 7 counts of knock, increase your WOT setting. Try to keep your injector duty cycle below 85%.

Taylor,

If you still have the instructions for the GM MAS Translator, it will tell you where to set the base and idle knobs for 720's. If you don't have the instructions you can go here
http://www.fullthrottletech.com/forumdisplay.php?f=40&page=2&sort=lastpost&order=&pp=20&daysprune=-1
To download the instructions for the version you have in the car.

At idle there is no difference between a 14b and a 50 trim, at mid it is possible that the 14b may flow more due to it's faster spool time. However, as soon as the 50 trim starts to spool it will quickly out flow a 14b at 12psi and higher. I say 12psi, because even with an 8lb spring in the wastegate it may still spike to or creep to 12 psi or more at WOT... The 50 trim should allow you to run more boost before seeing knock because it will not heat the air charge as fast as the 14b would at the same psi.

First, get the fuel tuning close before trying to turn up the boost. Then small steps in raising the boost will get you to where you want to be.

Takes for your help and info its very valuable to me. I will hopefully have my 1G running tonight. I will zero everything out and start again. Thanks again.
