So i found a post in my local area for a gst spyder that has a 5 speed transmission the car is at the junk yard right now . My friend said it has mostly everything still on the car. I was wondering if i were to pull it can i use the 5 speed to one day convert my car from auto to manual with this transmission ?

Not sure what year the car is my friend is at work right now so I'm just waiting on a respond. I really hope this will work if i take the time to go get it. The transmission is like the hardest thing to find in my area for some reason

Yes you will need the ecu. However, since its a '96, you may have to change around some wires due to the cam and crank sensors being different. You'll have to look into that one some more. Don't want to give you a bad answer. Definitely get the ecu though.

would that be hard to do to change everything around order for it to work or would i be better off just looking for a 97-99 tranny ? my friend said the transmission would probably be around $150 if i pull it or maybe lower it's the lowest i ever seen in my area

You DO NOT need the ecu. The auto ecu will work just fine with the manual transmission.

I have always been told the ecu had to be swapped. Thought I read it somewhere too. Oh well, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. No worries. GST_RIC_99, hope you take this into account...

You're going to need the clutch pedal, shifter assembly, shifter cables, clutch fluid reservoir and other things just to name a few. I left out the obvious which is the clutch and flywheel as I'm going to assume you're going to purchase these new.

ok thank you for the info. I just remember i ask RRE awhile back did i need a different ecu i think the tech i talk to said the same thing

yeah i already did my research on parts i need. I'm just trying to find out will the 96 tranny work with my 99 GS-T and how hard will it be to change everything i have a list of things i need already from what i read on here. Searching for the tranny is the hardest thing to find in Bakersfield or close by

You will need to buy a tactrix cable and spend many, many, MANY hours researching what each tuning parameter is for.
