5 knob afc

i have an old 5 knob afc. i thought when you go in to the + it richens it up and - leans out. but i had it at -5 across the board all before i had a logger, got a logger and my mid, high trims were 80-90% and i could smell fuel and knocked like hell plus i checked the fuel press hose off it was 60 psi, figued rich, so i put it to put it in the + 20 range for the mid and high trim, knock goes down. fuel trim mid 100%, high 117%, low trim zeroed out 139%, put fuel press at 40. my question is i thought when you go in the + range that should richen things up not lean them out. 550, 190fp w/afpr, fp 40. 17#boost

youre a little hard to understand, but it sounds as though you're doing two things at once. you are leaning out the mixture by lowering fuel pressure and at the same time you are richening the mixture with the safc.
stock fuel pressure is 38 psi. 60 psi is way too high. pick a fuel pressure first, then adjust with the afc.
