5.1 speaker system

Hi,

I'm after a low-to-mid-range 5.1 speaker system. Anyone had any experience with See lowest price for Klipsch HD300 5.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System ? I can't really stretch much beyond the price of that one; is there anything around the same price that's better?

Go shopping. Years ago I got KLH speakers all separate from Best Buy for like $20 a speaker because they were on clearance. They sounded just fine. Only thing I didn't get was a subwoofer, but I just used a JL sub from a car and a computer PSU.

I know this doesn't answer your question directly but I think it can help - check craigslist.org. I've pieced together two home theater systems (more or less) using craigslist.

Craigslist is a good thing. You could probably find something better to just as cheap, and used always sounds better than new if taken care of.

I like everyone elses statements as well but yea always shop around. Like even trying google will provide you with retailers across the states both online and retail stores.

I would have to agree with everyone else about shopping around but also it depends what you like or need for the area you are putting it in. I use all Samsung because my TV is samsung, my blu-ray player is samsung, and so is my surround sound which is 5.1. The reason I use ALL samsung is because they communicate with each other making my life easier. Good luck bro!!!

I paid $2000 for the Bose V20 Lifestyle, I was happy with it, but it did not sound ANYWHERE near as good as the V30 demo I heard in the store (the v30 costs $3000).

While the sound really is good, it leaves me wanting more and I crave the V30 sound. Lastly, I heard that a well setup Test Drive (uses some Klipsch speakers, Klipsch sub, and a Harmon Kardon receiver) costs around $600 and has a better sound.
