when i shift to 4th gear, no matter what speed or how fluent the shift is.... when accelerating or just riding in 4th, the shifter shakes and rattles... just wanted to make sure this wasnt an early stage of crank walk

LOL. Your nonturbo isnt going to crankwalk. I am not sure what shaking shifter is, but it isn't crankwalk.

oh i wasnt aware that crankwalk was just turbo related.... let me mention i just picked up my dsm a week ago

sometimes my shifter shakes a little bit in 3rd gear. i cant say i can tell you what it is but im not all that concerned about it. oh well... :(

I searched and read quite a few problems about 4th gear but this one best describes my problem. I have a 95 GST that I just picked up a week ago. Its got the 6 bolt swap and a "newer tranny" with the fidenza flywheel and ACT 2100 clutch.

My problem is that while I put it in 4th gear it vibrates (the stick does) and its pretty loud, especially into higher RPMS. While it is in 4th, it feels like its only halfway in. It has even popped out once, so I have been shifting 3rd to 5th... but i'd rather find out what is wrong with 4th. Has anyone else experienced this or know what it might be?
