Hey guys i have a 1999 eclipse spyder gs SOHC 5speed. I would like to know what parts i can buy that is bolt on to make my car faster.

These bolt on and they deliver lots of speed. Just don't have them on for DMV inspection.
Completly stock. I just got it as a gift. I did oil change spark plug change thats all. I was thinking cold air intake and exhaust change from the headers back. I really dont have any mumbers in mind i just want it to be a little faster you kno. So if i do a cold air intake and full exhaust i should have it tuned? To reprogram it with the new parts? What have you done to it so far? And what kind of tuning equipment or software do you have? Also what condition is your engine in? I'll always preach this: maintenance before mods.
One thing you'll notice is the aftermarket parts base for that engine is pretty limited. They've actually made more parts for the 420a Eclipses than those. You should still be able to find things like exhaust systems and cold air intakes. Combine those with a tune and you'll snag a few extra horses. Nothing substantial though.
The question that really needs to be asked is what are your goals? Are there any specific numbers you're trying to reach?
It's not required but that's how you take full advantage of modifications and ensure the engine is running healthy. So if i do a cold air intake and full exhaust i should have it tuned? To reprogram it with the new parts?
Thank you, removed link + edited. The link you posted is for 420a cars. He gas a 4g64.
Sorry to ask but what do u mean that 420a is not applicable to ops?IMHO: Keep it stock, maintain it well.
Cold air intake, exhaust
Edit: Link removed, 420A not applicable to OP's 4G64
He posted a link to a thread about modifying a 420a. But since you have a 4g64 it doesn't not apply to you. Although the principle is the same.Sorry to ask but what do u mean that 420a is not applicable to ops?
What mods do i need to do to throw in a 420a swap on my 99 spyderHe posted a link to a thread about modifying a 420a. But since you have a 4g64 it doesn't not apply to you. Although the principle is the same.
420 is a completely different motor and is not an upgrade for you. What mods do i need to do to throw in a 420a swap on my 99 spyder
Lol let me ask u something u think cus i aint gon b able to handle it or u mean cus it aint gon line up with my current engine mounts?420 is a completely different motor and is not an upgrade for you.
Thank you brother thats exactly what i was looking to find out i apreciate it.I agree with @pauleyman here. The 4g64 is a 2.4L while the 420a is a 2.0L. So if you swapped them you'd be losing your low end torque. And plus the work you'd put into to it is pointless.
If you'd like to have a 420a I'd suggest you go and buy a car with the 420a already in it. But the only advantage a 420a has over a 4g64 is the ability to rev high. You don't have any better chances of building a fast car with a 420a.
It's a completely different design and on the opposite side of the engine Bay. To attempt to swap like this would be the same as putting A 420A into any car. Not just an eclipse.Lol let me ask u something u think cus i aint gon b able to handle it or u mean cus it aint gon line up with my current engine mounts?
Ohh got ya thanks...crazy how that isIt's a completely different design and on the opposite side of the engine Bay. To attempt to swap like this would be the same as putting A 420A into any car. Not just an eclipse.
Engine transmission wiring harness ECU are all different.
