Are you guys using the Magnus 2.4L or are you building a 2.4L from the galant...or using a Hyundai 2.4L block, which from what I was told is pretty much the same as a 6-bolt 2L.

It doesn't matter who you purchase from or if you build it yourself the block will source from various models of Mitsu or Hyundai vehicles. Magnus doesn't have a special block.

Sorry for hijacking the threard Please feel free to PM me a reply, if you wish

Can you take a stock hyundai block, slap 6-bolt heads and stuff on it and go...with fuel and computer upgrade of course

The 6 bolt 2.4's have pretty much a flat top piston, with the exception of two small valve reliefs for the original 2 valve SOHC head. If you use the original pistons you will end up with a compression ratio around 11 or 12.0to1. The later 7 bolt 2.4's you can use the original pistons and end up with around 9.5to1.

So yes, you will need to change the pistons on the 6 bolt 2.4 to run any kind of boost without getting knock, or run C-16 all time.

The 63 head bolts right onto the 64, They say you can run the stock 63 head gasket if the 64 has the stock bore. I run the cometic head gasket from Magnus with no problems.

Just to let you guys know, I have two running 2.4's, one in my race car, and one in the daily driver. The daily has 3in turbo back and a small 16G. I have the boost as low as it will go (10 lbs) and my injector DC is at 122% and I'm getting 18 counts of knock. I thought the 450's would handle at little more than 10 lbs of boost, I thought wrong. This car ran 13.40's with the 2.0 with a 14b at 16 lbs. Yes its funner (torque) to drive with the 2.4. It feels alittle faster than the 63, But I bet if I could run 16lbs it would screem. I guess I'll get some 650's for it.

Hey hose10172, I would have .82 ex housing, But I just don't know if I will be replacing this turbo with something else in the near future. I'm sure the .63 housing is choking some Hp. Plus the spool up time difference between the .63 & .82 is only like 300 to 400 on the 63, Prolly less on the 64.

some galant GS models came with DOHC 4g64 motors (93-96 models i think). my question is, does the dohc 4g64 head ports match that of the 1G or 2G 4g63s i.e. the intake and exhaust manifolds bolt on? how bout the cams? i know theyre aren't identical, but who knows.

dont you have to plug some oil vents on the 64 block to bolt a 63 head on?

You are talking about the 94 Galant GS(which if you look I have). It came with a DOHC 2g head, a 60mm TB and I'm not sure if it is a 1g or 2g style intake manifold. The head is the same mitsu part # as a 2g. From looking at the cams, they are at least close to a 2g, but I'm not forsure on that.

Hope that helps

Yes!-If you want you can drill a few water holes in the deck to match 63 gasket and you have to drill/tap bosse on block for knock sensor.

Would it be less exspensive to get a shortblock from magnus, or building one yourself considering that you do none of the maching work. and you use the same internals. I want to build a 4g64 or buy one from magnus. And also would i need the 4g64 block or the g64b block to put in a 1g.
p.s. i want a 6 bolt and i want to bolt my DOHC head on it also
Thanks,

The Magnus block might not be cheaper BUT it would be 10x easier to just call him and have him ship out a block. That way you don’t have to go to a junkyard and pull a motor. Don’t have to find a machine shop you can trust etc.

Thanks ^^^

But if i were to build my own dont the 1'gers have to get a differnt block?

and any of you kjnow how much it would cost to fully port and polish heads with new valves and spring snd shizz? just a guesstimate?
Thanks,
