Car would not start, so I went through the check list, and did not hear the fuel pump cut on, so I replaced it with a working fuel pump out of my other eclipse. Still the pump does not cut on, so this leaves me to believe the relay has gone bad. I bought a new one, and its a standard style relay, However I could not find where it goes, the relays are not located in the same spots on my spyder as they are on my gs. I posted about this and a user pointed me to The fuel pump consumption unit, is this the relay, or something else? I am extremely stuck and I would just like to drive my car again.

Do a fuel pump rewire same as a gst

There are relays on the passenger side kick panel near the ecu in the same spot as a turbo car check those.

There is also this relay.

I no longer use this relay as i swapped in a turbo ecu.

I have no relays on the passenger side. That was the second place I checked because on my hard top, I have 3 in the engine bay near the brake master, and I have 2 behind the kick panel, I don't see any of these. How do I do the rewire? step by step please.

Just looked up the rewire simple enough. What are the benefits of doing this, and why do people do it?

Here is the rewire i used.

2G DSM FWD Fuel Pump Rewire Instructions

The reason is low voltage and low voltage on a fuel pump means less fuel.

"Low voltage really hurts fuel pump performance. Fuel pumps are DC electric motors; their speed and therefore flow varies with voltage that is supplied to the pump. Since the fuel pump is designed for 14 volts, teh 12-volt stock power supply results in a huge loss of flow."

The rewire is to use a bigger gauge wire to supply the voltage to the pump. It is 100 percent not necessary on a stock 4g64. Track down the problem and fix it. Test the relay and for power at the relay. The relay should be behind the radio.

Yes its uneeded on a stock 4g64 but it will eliminate alot of questions
