Okay guys, I have quite a few questions about this idea. Last I heard, when u put a 4g63 head on a sohc 64 block it raises the compression ratio to somewhere around 11:1. How true is this statement? Because I want to do a high compression stroker build. 10.5:1-11.0:1. Any info is appreciated, no BS please.

Compression will bump maybe 1-1.5 at the most. Best evidence I have is Manleys piston specs. If you look under 7-bolt 4g63 and 4g64 w/63 head, piston number 606015c-4 is used for both. The compression goes from 8.5 to 10, so putting a 63 head on a stock 64 with 9.5:1 would in fact give you 10.5-11.

Thanks for the fast replies guys! I just want to be different from the normal around here. And yes I do plan on running e85. A few places locally sell it so acquiring it wouldn't be an issue. My plans would be to buy a set of stock compression forged pistons and forged rods for the 64, then put a built and ported 63 head with 280 cams on top. I plan on having the bottom end balanced when assembled at the machine shop. With arp hardware holding the block together, what do u guys think it could be spun to rpm wise? I built a. 20 over 9:1 2liter 2 years ago and it loved seeing 8200. Also pulled tremendous up top. Again, thanks in advance!

Also so in other words, using stock rod length I need the 606015c-4 to get the 10:1 compression ratio I'm shooting for using the stock dsm head?
