Hey everyone, I really need some help! Ive got a 1998 Eclipse Spyder GS with the SOHC 4g64 and I’ve been searching for some time now but haven’t been able to find an answer.

Is there a difference between the 4g63 and 4g64 trigger plates?

I’m asking because I had a “friend” install the new plate and crank sensor but he did something wrong. The plate hits one of the tensioner pulleys, bends, and takes out my sensor every time. Am I missing a spacer, have it on backwards, have the wrong plate? I’m slowly giving up LOL thanks for reading! I can add a photo if needed, just have to go take one.

Please add a photo.

All 2Gs with a Mitsubishi engine use the same trigger plate, part number MD187953.
I won’t be able to get a photo until tomorrow morning but I’ll be sure to snap one on my way home from work.

Is there suppose to be a spacer behind the plate? Do you know of any forums that explain how to install all of that?

Assembly is in this order:

Engine Block --> Balance Shaft Sprocket (or balance shaft delete spacer) --> Trigger Plate --> Timing Belt Sprocket

Using this picture, you can see how it is supposed to go on. Both plates are showing the timing belt sprocket side of the plate, NOT the balance shaft sprocket side.
