so i have a 89 colt gt that was originally the 4g61 car. I have the original tranny out of that car. I got a chance to buy a 7 bolt taht is seriously brand new. It was in a automotive school that they used to deomstrate. I paid 450 for a motor that was never in a car or fired. Will my 7 bolt work with that tranny?? i imagine it would. Any input about the swap at all would be wonderful.

The trans will bolt right up yes. The only difference is that you gotta swap out the steering knuckles and some other suspension parts/ something is different with the axles pretty sure theres some changing around you gotta do.

So what mounts do i use to do this swap. Its a gt so i think its just 1g mounts. I have 3 mounts in the car now. 2 bolted to the cross member and 1 on the passenger frame rail. I just need the brackets correct??

You need the factory 1.6 Turbo mounts. Follow his link above. Theres all kinds of info there that'll help you, and everyone on there is very helpful.

found a lil problem. I need to trade it off for a 6 bolt to make it work. Mount position is differnt on the 7 bolt motors.
