I have seen the 2nd gen mr2 4g63 swap but do you guys think it would fit in the first gen? I am a little nervous because I haven't heard of anyone doing this before so I don't have anything to look up if I have questions...

I'm not sure that too many people would be very experienced with this swap. You might want to do some more investigating through out the Internet and look for people who have completed it.

Funny, I own a SW20 MR2 turbo, I also own a 600+ whp DSM, I want to put my eclipse engine in this poor mans ferrari so bad. I can totally picture a GST tranny doin work back there under the bonnet of a MR2

That would be an awesome swap! Since the car has the engine in the rear, I would imagine the swap be similar to the 2nd gen MR2 but then again, I know absolutely nothing about MR2'S. I'm sure it would involve a lot of custom fabrication, though. Unless you have access to a shop where you will have all the necessary tools to do a swap like this, I wouldn't say it was worth it.

the car pictured above IS a second gen MR2 (chassis code SW20)

i do work in a full auto/truck repair shop with access to every special tool under the sun, it would be hard to sacrafice my 4WD eclipse to do a "MR63" swap.

ID LOVE TO DO IT THO :)

Just slap a 2jz-gte in the mr2 and call it a day.

LOL If it would fit! The MR2 engine bay is already 1/2 the size of ours, and they somehow managed to stuff a turbo 4-cyl in there. Getting an I6 to not only fit, but bolt up to a trans that would fit, would probably be more work than it's worth.

I mean, unless you actually believe those Supra guys are as fast as they think they are... :D

The mk2 engine bay is pretty spacious compared to the mk1. I've never seen it and it probably wont be easy, but it'd be cool.

hahaha I have a supra in the driveway (dad's) i think that supra owners think their cars are slow even when they are 1000hp monsters......
But on a serious note, 4g63 in a mr2 would be kick ass!
