I contacted a well known (in this community) DSM shop and asked them about porting and polishing a head for me w/oversized valves, 5 angle job, etc. Also, I asked them how much a ported and polished turbo intake manifold would cost.

Their reply disturbed me somewhat.
We have never worked on a non-turbo so we would not be able to do this for as low as you are thinking. Also, we do not have a non-turbo core.
Aren't the Turbo 4G63 Heads the exact same as the Non-Turbo 4G63 Heads? Other than the cams, I should be able so directly swap a turbo head into a non-turbo engine? That was my understanding, or am i wrong? They made it seem as if they were incompatible.

And about the Ported Intake manifold...
As far as the intake manifold, again, all we have is turbo intake manifolds. We do not deal very much in non-turbo so we dont have any non-turbo parts laying around. Sorry we couldnt be more help.
Aren't the turbo and non-turbo intake manifolds interchangeable? There is no difference correct? They should work on a non-turbo?

I wanted to clear this up, and hopefully set this shop straight in what is and is not possible. But I wanted to get my facts straight first. Please respond!
 
Yes, as far as I know, the N/T heads are the exact same as the Turbo heads, except for the differences you mentioned, being the valves, and cams. Also, the Intake mani is the same. I would find another shop.
 
The turbo heads are identical to the n/t (4g63) heads. The intake manifold would work, although the turbo one has one more reference port, for the bypass valve.
