have any of you guys swaped a 4G63DET in your 1g DSM?? by any chance any of you guys buy the engine through TotalJDM.com?? good or bad condition?? I'm either rebuilding a 4g63t 6 bolt or buying that motor if i can get good reviews on it and tips and ish. also what is the 4g63det really rated at, 210??
 
This isn't a nissan engine.

There isn't a 4g63DET.

It's just a 4g63.

True that! On a side note JDM 4g63's are pretty much the same as their US counterparts. Only real difference being the cyclone dual runner intake manifold. That and the different Injector/Turbo combos that some came with. :thumb:

Oh and I almost forgot as far as HP Ratings I believe there are 3. Once again depending on the turbo/injector sizing.

190 HP - Auto 13b?
210 HP - 14b/450cc
240 HP - B16G/510cc
 
Definitely not DET, but I have seen the suffix "BT" added to the end for all 90-99 turbo 4G63's. But 4G63T will suffice.
 
Its all the same engine internally no matter what setup. Chances are, if your building a JDM motor, it wont be using stock injectors at all/for long.
 
Correct but you can always sell the extra stuff you get so thats a plus. I did it just because it was easy and cheap.

To heck with that, 4GH2263BT is where it's at. Or maybe even a 4GRB26DETT63. :D I see people do it to the 6G72 also, only it's 6G72DETT, it a Mitsubishi, not a Nissan. The comments are not to be cruel, just to poke some fun and stop misinformation.

i know i know, sorry.
what you should do is buy a 6 bolt long block and rebuild it, replacing whatever your budget allows.
 
My bad i shoulda knew that, but yesterday as i was reading on a forum bout the 4g63 both usdm and jdm, they were arguing bout if it had a DET at the end and that side one, the side that said DET was on it, and as i looked around searching for the engine i found quite a few "4G63DET's." So my bad.
 
Haha okay i got owned...wow just actually read the post's, ya oh well, hey atleast im not a ricer or some young'n thinkin he knoes everything. I'm on this forum to learn and on other forums also.
 
Where you driving a DSM and looking at Nissan motors by chance? DET is Nissan ie VG30DE VG30DET SR20DE SR20DET CA18DE CA18DET. Hey the thought of a Skyline motor stuffed into a DSM does sound good (RB26DET). Cal SOKO America they ship the motor complete with Turbo if your lucky you may get the EVO 3 motor or ask if they will throw the JDM ECU in and get the Cyclone intake. Then again you could do both!
 
not sure yet on the decision...But hey believe me i knoe the s20det motors and the rb26dett's and all them, and the b16a's, k20's, 2jgte's, the ls1's....haha but it was jus my bad for reading a misinformed forum thread or whatever yall would like to call it.

Yeah, he'd be really lucky to get an engine he couldn't bolt in....
 
okay im like so lost into my project right now, i dont know whether to keep my talon which is a 92 talon tsi fwd auto, or buy a 94 talon tsi awd manual wit 40k miles for 4 g's. If i keep my talon right now that i got for free, im still gonna be left wondering cuz i dunnoe whether to jus rebuild my engine and replace the pistons, rods, the camshafts, cams, pulleys, seals, gaskets, etc...with aftermarket parts such as wiseco pistons and eagle rods orrr get a buschur stage 1 block and head and then get lifters, camshafts, etc...dont know the actual prices of both cuz now me buying a jdm 4g63t is outta the picture now. The talon the way it sits right now, it has to dents on both side panels that could be popped out, the flooring inside has some molds due to the previous owner's lack of cleaning the car, leather seats are worn out. What may you guys say i do, buy the 94, or keep the 92. If i keep the 92 as some of you may suggest should i rebuild the engine i currently have using the block and head, or jus buying the stage 1 block and head?? Also to better help, I wanna be able to run at least low 12's with the car i end up with, i mean i know the pro's and con's of awd and fwd, is the automatic fwd gonna be able to do that? i dont know, help...

get the 94... sell your car and get the 94 cause it has low mileage, its manual, and its awd. if you see the car you have now its like free money so thats fricken cool and you get to upgrade.
 
Okay im newbie, so dont look down on me so much, i knoe enough, but just not all the technical stuff. But okay my engine its in bad condition...to rebuild it, it would consist of replacing the gaskets, seals, pistons, rods, valves and retainers, camshaft and cam gears, and pulleys, timing belt ish,etc...well thats all i was planning to buy for the rebuild. I'm getting the block and head hot tanked and washed, but other than that id have to get it reboar or something riight?? also how much is a 3 angle job, whats the price range?
