Hey guys I completely new to this site and the car (93 Laser N/T 4g63 auto FWD). I spend my time on the JBody forum for the Ecotec and LD9 engines. Anyways here is my issue I just bought the Laser from a guy who said that he had ran through the whole car trying to find out why the car wasn't getting fuel. I looked at it and I am thinking that the ecu is gone. Turns on lights and electrics all work but the pump won't kick in and when you try to turn it over it clicks and everything cuts out (probably a safety switch). The guy I bought it from said that he changed the pump when it went down to try and fix it. I removed the pump and went through the lines and it all checks out. So... I am going to buy a new ecu for the car. I have search on here but could not find an answer to my question which is.

Can you use a manual ecu from a 1g on an automatic 1g using the automatic stock wiring harness?

My ecu number is MD166255 E2T36572. Now I have found an exact matched ecu but it says it came off a 93 Talon 5spd. Would this work?

Thanks in advance guys. I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot more time on her once this car gets under way.

Haha, Did I stump everyone?

Had the same problem with my brother 1g NT eclipse. Turns out the relay under the stereo, in front of the ECU in a gold box was bad. Had to open the gold cover of the relay box and hold down the relays for the injectors and fuel pump to kick on.

Hmm. You know I never thought of that. I have only had the car for a few weeks and I am right in the middle of my bottom end Ecotec build. I'll have to take a look at it. So I'm guessing you guys bought a new relay and it worked? Just asking cause I know sorted relays close to the ecu usually cause other problems to.

We did buy it a few days ago. Waiting to come in the mail, but we drove around the block. I drove and he held the relays down LOL
Before we figured that the relays were bad, he had bought, CAS, Bran new ignition coil, Plugs/wires, and was going to order the ICM but luckily we found out that it was just the relays, because the ICM at Advance auto parts was $150 :barf:

Ya nice break LOL. Well I'll give that a try. I haven't bought anything for it just yet. But it would make sense that it could be the relay cause I can hear it click out when I try to start it. Do you know the part number for the relay?

Far as the the ecu question im not 100% sure but i know the gearing is diff on a at from a mt the automatic i believe has only 4.were the manual has 5

Well I just got the MPI relay in and swapped it on the car with more luck this time the car tried to turn over. Unfortunately, I still could not hear the fuel pump kick in. I'm not so sure about the ecu now. Car continually tries to turn over but can't bust off. Any suggestions?

Guess I should state that the car is still not getting fuel. It gets spark but no fuel.
