I'm planning on doing a head gasket replacement on my 4g63 7 bolts.

What parts i should replace too?

I'm going to use cometic MLS gasket

If you are using that gasket, then you should know that you need a polished clean and flat area, If the block haven't being decked, then you should stay away from that gasket.

If you don't know if parts have being changed in your engine, the timing kit will be the best to do,
Timing belt, tensioner pulley, Idle pulley, water pump, timing belt tensioner and once you are there, please replace your seals, (cam and crank seals).

If you are 500 hp or less do not worry about using a Cometic HG.

Run a composite, The OE one or Fel-Pro 9627PT

Why did you pull the head?

With the head off do

What to look for when having the head and/or block surfaced.

Since you are pointing at seals, you may as well install new valve springs too.
A set of BC1100 can be had for less than $100 USD.

24 psi? What turbo?

The composite will hold that with the right tune.

Piss on the mls. You cant just surface the head, the block needs it as well. For what its worth to change your mind and save you some coin i hit 32psi with an hx35,L19's and stock mitsu gasket, and all is well.

the cometic mls on extremepsi worth $75 and the stock one i think $58 i would go for the mls.

+1
This is what I'm going with only the regular arp's:thumb:

Then pull your engine, do a rebuild, and have the Head and block surfaced properly, as I linked you above.

If you do not, you stand a very good chance of having to pull the head again to replace the HG again due to improper surface finish.

Listen to bogus man.On the other hand, sometimes experience is the best lesson.

You should actually listen to these guy/girls that are giving you advice. And im not sure what extremepsi site you're looking at but the cometic mls is 94$ and that doesnt include shipping. Im currently doing the exact same thing to my GSX 7bolt and I picked up the victor reins head gasket kit water pump gasket, o-rings, and even having my head cleaned, tested for ANY issues, and the exhaust/intake ports ported for $105. (Yes I have hook-ups) the cometic HG is pointless cause it replaces the amount that is "decked" from your head and block. Also, replace every gasket from the HG and up since the head is off

I also vote for the cheap felpro. The MLS will probably be a waste of time and money when you have to replace it because it doesn't seal. After blowing my headgasket, I put in an MLS and it was worse than the blown felpro. It blew because of knock at the end of the 1/4 mile, otherwise it held up good. I'm still on the stock head bolts running about 30psi with a 16G.

I have a 20G at 22lbs, felpro composite hg and arp studs. Going up with the boost soon and was told just with head studs you can go a long ways without blowing a hg.

It's not going to matter what turbo or psi or hardware you have, if you don't know what your doing and have a shitty tune, any head gasket is going to fail. Don't always listen to others who think they know, sit back, think about what your doing and make an educated decision. Just turning up the boost is a small part in the entire equation of how head gaskets can fail.

Also it may be good to note that many people like composites as they can act like a fuse, instead of sending parts out the side of your block, the composite hg will fail and leave you with only changing the hg and not a complete rebuild.
