very interesting post. so about that car your friend built. the gas engine is 16 hp, what is the other engine being used, electric? I always thought that hybrid cars had the majority of their horsepower created by the gasoline engine and that emissions and pollution were cut down because the electric engine was activated during idle, cruising and slowing down.

good luck on your project. even though I am a skeptic also, im hoping for the best.

Tyler

Hydraulic hybrid system, it reaches about 95% effiecient compared to 60% for most electric system. The hydraulics are used for take off and it can run down the street on just that.

With the proper gearing true only 6000 - 7000 RPM's are needed to handle most tasks. 7000RPM on 25" Dia tires .80:1 5th gear and a 3.8:1 final drive give you about : 171.327 MPH, but the Hp needed to go that fast is on par to that of a Dodge Viper (or some of the heavily tunned cars here).

So, the "16hp" engine that magically produces 110hp -which still won't get a ton from 0-60 in any six seconds- is neither. It's an energy storage and retrieval system, having nothing to do with your initially misleading post, and about as beneficial as those thinking electric or hydrogen-powered cars are any kind of answer. It's just a shell game. Energy, like mass, doesn't change. It only moves around. To drive a "clean" electric car, you still have to get the energy from somewhere, and current economic and technological considerations dictate that much of that generation will be from "dirty" sources, regardless how lovely the flower-sniffers think their answers are.

Ha, I was waiting for you to call him out on that. I was thinking the same thing. Only the 16hp engine was mentioned at first, with no further info.

I think I read somewhere that hybrids are still not profitable for the automakers. They lose money on each and every one - but the government requires them to build them for CAFE, but it only really effects the big guys in particular like Ford, Toyota and Honda who each have gotten a lot of press for what they've done. Granted the Prius is a "success" - it has a really long waiting list, but Toyota isn't profitting on them. The Honda Insight is certainly a dud, hardly anybody wants them - but they are doing okay with the Civic and now maybe the Accord hybrid. Still, the cost it takes to buy one over standard model outwighs the actual fuel savings over a standard model, and the companies themselves only do it because they have too, they aren't fiscally sound. Maybe that's why your friend isn't having much luck selling his idea.

Most of the time you get some good tax write off's if you buy a hybrid car. So you may pay some more at the dealer, but you get a good chunk back come tax time.

I agree this guy hasnt gotten up from his dream.... Someone needs to hit him along side the head with a golf club.

you only get the tax write off the first year. The accord hybrid isnt a far cry from a full gas
hybrid. I think its only 5-6 more mpg and you dont get a spare tire. The manufactures dont make money there cutting corners whereever they can . Warranty time sucks on hybrids. Unfourtanitly i cant say more on the subject, cause i havent gone to school yet, for the hybrid. And were still learning about the accord. But take it from a honda technician, the insight does suck.

I realize that nobody know how large the block is (if someone does they haven't posted yet), if someone who has one out of the car wants to check it and let me know I would appreciate that very much.

If someone has any ideas about things that can be improved outside the block. Let me know, I will help if I can.

No one called me on the Hybrid car; I purposefully left it off to see if any one would catch it. Oh, and you get a ruffly $2,000 tax credit each year you own a hybrid. Not just the 1st.

I have a better idea for you.

Take a running 4g63, and design a tube-chassis that will accept all the AWD components. *Viola* you have a 2000lb AWD monster. You're thinking of things from the wrong angle.

I actually plan on doing something like this when I have some money to play with, and I get bored of the 2.4l racecar. ;)

Could you imagine an AWD-Tube Chassis, Fiberglass or CF bodied car that weighed ~2000lbs?!

Im kinda skeptical about what your ambitions are, as well as most people reading this. It is very interesting though. The theory of Direct combustion chamber injection has been around for a while now. It just hasent been mass produced yet. How would you obtain the high fuel pressure that you need to atomize the fuel? Second off, we like to see pics, at least of sketchings, the machine used to carve out AFTERMARKET blocks and your corrector pump. Like I said, im not doubting you, I just want pictures to give me a reason NOT to doubt you. Its easier to see it drawn out than just to explain it. :thumb: :talon:

^^ you'll end up getting an excuse like, "my computer is broken", or "my digital cam is broken", or "my engineering buddy wont let me take pics cuz its top secret yo"

Kinda like that kid with the supercharged chevy beretta with the broken hood latch so you couldn't check out what he has under the hood. You all know what I'm talkin about, there is at least 1 in every town.

Oh yeah, this is the dumbest idea I have ever heard of. What a waste of space.

-you haven't even gone to school yet to become a super duper engineer
-this project would cost so mch money, I would rather buy a house or do something real contructive
-i personally think the research and development on this project is way over your head

I thnk this whole thread was a joke to see how many people this kid can piss off and is getting a kick out of everyone's responses.

This thread is junk. The author of this thread is junk. Anyone who supported him is also junk. In closing, well, do just that. Thanks

Some kid in my town was at the 2F2F opening, he had an 89 Escort and said he had a 400bhp Ecotech in there.. We told him to open his hood he said "Race me and find out." So we were just chillin and about ten minutes later I notice he has his hood open. I ran over there, laugh right in his face and bring the rest of the guys over from the shop so we all laughed in his face! Kid closed his hood and took off. :p

i can't believe some of the kids out there... he could've at least said a turbo 2.3 and a rwd conversion...

i just have to ask for this douche bag to give me my 40 mins of my life back i just wasted reading his post. The lil dreamer cant even afford a 4g63 block let alone find the demension on the internet and he thinks he can find a way to have all his magic numbers right to make a new block   the kid drives a NT car. calls the forced air device a blower cuz turbos have been called blowers for years, has trouble with grammar(not that mines great) and thinks he can build an engine OMG   I could have been playing HALO but im reading some kids wet dream and he still hasnt hit puberty. and this is in ADVANCED TECH    I mean i have all the plans out for a flying talon that is all wheel jet powered and i was just wondering what size fuel lines they had so i could get everything bolted together.  CHRIST SOMEONE smack this kid

Youll need a Mr. Fusion , flux compacitor optional..

as long as you make sure the fernactulater pin is fernaculating

I don't mind the skeptics. But those who have nothing better to do than to trash me, they are being low, and taking some pretty cheap shots.

I can afford to buy a 4G63 block. But I wont unless I absolutely need to. So far I haven't seen the need to.

You all have no idea what my schooling entails don't make assumptions; you'll just end up looking like an ass. Nowhere is anything said about what level of education I have, for all I know I am more educated than all of you. But likely I am not, but in my field who knows.

I know I am not being as grammatically correct as I could be but what difference does that make? Knocking some ones intelligence because they left an “s” off of a few words? Give me a break. That has to be one of the best cases of “poisoning the well” my teachers has ever seen. If you don’t know what that is; Google it and put arguments in with it you should find out. The way you write and speak does not accurately measure the level of intelligence.

Once again; if you can’t add anything of value don’t add anything at all!

If no one knows what I am looking for or an other place to find it, then let this thread die in peace.

I second that...didn't any of your mothers to you guys to keep your mouths shut if you don't have anything nice to say? It is one thing to argue a point, it is another to just rip someone for the sake of ripping.

Anyhow, don't assume anything yourself on education;) I happen to be a degreed ME working as a EE in solenoids and valves. Not all of us dsmer's are stupid. The stupid ones just tend to be more vocal because they can't think before they post.

This thread is also a waste of space. It needs closed, all the "t00nerz" banned for good, and made a sticky to serve as a notice that this level of idiocy isnot tolerated.

isnt it bad form to quote yourself LOL? in response to the authors comment that he has no reason to buy a 4g63 block if you had bought a block then dsmtuners wouldnt have to deal with this long a$$ thread full of bullshit.

I would think worse form is typing at a sub-1st grade level.

How does the author plan on building a block without buying one? Does he think there are detailed specifications on the entire block available on the internet? No slutface, there isn't. If you do something ofthat magnitude, you have to actually buy a block. OMG. You are wanting to CNC a custom block, and can't afford to buy or store one?

The truth to this story is, the kid is 16, lives with his mommy, and thought he could look cool by making this post. Why don't you use the search button, plenty of "toonerz" before you already thought of this idea.

Despite his approach, he is right. You just need to source a block...it will only cost you a couple hundred at the most and then you have all the references you need...

Yes, it's gotten so goddamned grim, even the teachers -who can't- are "excusing" and obviating the importance of grammar and scholarly presentation. My post count is well over fourteen-thousand. I challenge you to find a total of fifty spelling errors in all that. Meanwhile, you can't get through one post. But of course you think that's okay.

So went two-thousand years of Western Civization's progress. And we're the lucky ducks who get to watch it collapse.

At last, the Great Dawning. I thought it'd never come.
