This is probably a Newbie Question. Im rebuilding my engine and I need to know if as long as I can Keep detonation to a minimum, will I be able to make over 450 WHP on stock pistons reliably? Excuse my engine knowledge, but most of it I got from here :p . I'm thinking the pistons melting is from detonation.

i am in the process of wanting to rebuild also, I would also like to know the limits of the stock pistons and RODS especially, I have a 7bolt,

I think you could possably get 450hp but not reliable.

LOL

I would recommend building up your internals while you're on the subject. It would save yourself from spewing your bottom end out your turbo later on down the road. Which might cost a little more. :p

Ok, so tuning will save the pistons, but it wont save the bolts and Rods from breaking right?
