The time has come for me to buckle down with the thoughts of having a 450awhp TSi, and actually start working on it. I named this car Ireland. Because I saw the Irish population as fierce and very outstanding as I consider this car outstanding as stock as it comes. And from the beginning, before I had the car, I've been here, and will be here after it is done to share the victory with everyone that has helped me with anything and everything along the way.
I purchased him in October. October 4th to be exact.

At the time he was purchased, I wasn't aware of the clutch disengagement problem he would be having after driving him for 20 mins (enough to heat up the brake fluid in the clutch line and cause the hose to swell and shut off the travel back in from when clutch was pushed) which drove me crazy. A month later and maybe 1000 into him we managed to get him going by replacing the clutch hydraulic hose. And as I expected, the sensation driving him was heaven sent. I could only imagine how it would be to have a powerful 4g63 modded tastefully under the hood.
I got a job as a delivery boy for Papa johns to prolong the time I had driving to make sure I learned the ropes to driving manual. About mid November I had my cousin give me his wheels that were in storage. Which kicked up my love for it even more.

I pulled him wherever I went. And became much more confident on the road with better tires over the slicks of steelies that had came with him as sneakers.
Then on December 17th after being on a date with a friend I've been long considering the inevitable happened...

And to be completely honest I cried. This couldn't be happening to me. This was my first car, completely owned by me, purchased with my money and insured under my name... and in the first time in my 7 years of having my license and driving extremely frequently with every other car, that I EVER got into a collision. Soon after, I fell into a state that had me wanting to part it out and sell it. "Giving up" as you guys would call it...

But as the days passed, I looked at him even more as I wasn't met with my reserve when I tried selling. I'm so upset that I had gone that low to trying to sell him. I apologize to you ALL as DSM'ers in advance. It won't happen again...
I fell upon a thread in which the OP has his front end damaged. And his return for glory fueled my desire to make a come back. I immediately took down the ad to have him sold and started doing my research. This is my first attempt at ever modifying a vehicle. My experience with the mechanic was lackluster. and quite frankly I do not have the money to be back and forth between one. I sat down and spoke to my father about deciding to take this route. He lectured me some about giving up halfway, and that if I was just going to half ass it, to not try it at all. And I hesitated a bit... I've had a bad habit of quitting when things got hard or undesirable.
But hopefully this is where I overcome all my flaws in regards to application.
This sunday that just passed I got home from my shift unusually early (7am) and took a small nap. Woke up and felt a tingle. It was time...
I got my cousins small husky ratchet set and took it outside to just stand in front of it for close to ever. My cousin got all happy (he loved my car) and came down to join me, and so did my uncle... but as motivated as I was, I was skeptical because I have no knowledge on vehicles. And as I stood there for the first hour, my cousin and uncle start removing the ugly, to leave it as bad.
Composite Bumper Support

Radiator

Power Steering Fluid Cooler

Intake Filter

Fans (Shrouds were demolished)

Stock SMIC and Piping along with headlights (cut off)

I jumped in to help after the fans were removed (3rd piece taken out) and got to where I feel is a decent start.
The result

The hood is also unusable. But will be removed close to the end of my project as I do not plan on running it much without having the internals beefed up some + a better turbo which is currently stock. I was just DYING to see what that looks like in person. This is the closest I've ever been to an engine...

I will be asking a few questions about things in this post. Because as this is for you to keep upto date with my progress, it is also for me to learn about what I have to do (aside from the newbies section).
I noticed that I'm in deep dung with the chassis. It needs to get straightened. Unfortunately the only picture I have is a top view of the bottom mount.

But my bumper area is shifted towards the driver side. Wish I had a picture of it.
I was going to begin buying pieces to just replace everything but then I noticed that chassis stuff. And that's taking a back seat (parts) because I NEED a straight car.
This is my first entry to my build story. And the timeline of how Ireland becomes Vain.
Thank you for reading. I will try and update this every week if possible.

So I have been shopping around to see what would my best bet be regarding getting the frame straightened out and have him built back up to stock. The prices were a bit modest, but at that range I'm considering getting a shell, rolling or not, and transferring everything in so that I not worry about a repair failing. It may also be the least expensive route considering I've seen a few shells already from 600 - 800. I have until Friday March 9th to decide. Thank you for reading!
